[black-screen] Fresh Install 10.9 on Asus Rampage IV Extreme w/ i7 4930K

Let graphics=yes and if not work try without. Add <key>Kernel Flags</key>

ok let's go, I added the mach_kernel file from RampageDev as I said, is it ok ?

And erased the mach_kernel with the one in the folder /tools/Ivy Bridge E Kernel (10.9) only/ because I think I have an according processor.

Results : 

 

GraphicsEnabler=Yes : White apple screen with loading button ... let's wait :D

and now it changed to Apple logo only, no loader more ..... I'm waiting to see what happens :/ nothing seems to happen anymore.

So i stoped and try with GE=No

 

GraphicsEnabler=No : White apple screen with loading button ... waiting to see what happens ...

And then "road STOP sign" in the center of the screen

 

So i presume we need GE=Yes ?

Should i wait a long time ? When there is no more loader ?

So now ?

 

I tried also GraphicsEnabler=Yes -v to see what it does ... and after the looong code I have a white screen :)

GraphicsEnabler=Yes cpus=1 ---> white screen with loader, then error with the stop blocked sign

Now i copied Asus/kexts/ from RampageDev inside /Extra/Extensions/ folder to see if it changes something ...

Pfff... i have no more ideas.. right now you got ahci and 64bit enabled in bios?

Ok, with my rig I use myhack with patched kernel and original boot.plist. With bootflag "-v cpus=1 npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No" will get me in to the installation screen. Also use USB 2.0 port

If it hangs again, post screen pic

Patch kernel from where ?

 

I'm juste trying with my actual Kernel and Plist your bootflags : "-v cpus=1 npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No"

What about the other .diff file ?

 

And do I need to use arch bootflag as it's in the plist file ?

I'm trying to boot now with this plist file :

  • (and i see a line that says that it failed to load kext org.netkas.fakesmc, but other lines follow, should i check something on this kext)

(waiting to see where i get now ... i'm having the same line again, missing bluetooth controller transport)

so i'm bloked on the same line again ... this missing bluetooth thing

 

which is folowed by the apple screen ... waiting to see

And I finally got again to the installer. So now I will install OS X on my 120GB SSD drive, but what should I do next ?

Boot to the USB drive to the bootloader, and try to boot to Macintosh HD (instead of MyHack) with the same bootflags ?

Or boot to MyHack and do something else ?

Then I finally got my OS X installed ...

After that I followed the guide from RampageDev to use the files in his DMG, but at reboot i got this error :

Not knowing what to do, i remember the -x bootflag and tried it with the -v. And it gets booting, but stops at :

- IOBluetoothHCIController - SearchForTransportEventTimeOUtHandler -- Missing Bluetooth Controller Transport

- flow_divert_kctl_disconnect (0). disconnecting group 1

reboot back to your usb installer with the same bootflag (-v cpus=1 npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No) and you need to manually replace the kernel on your ssd with the one on your usb by doing:

 

  1. when see the installer screen, go to tool bar (top of the screen) select Terminal 

  2. enter


    cd /
cp march_kernel "Volumes/your mac ssd drive name/"


To check:

cd "Volumes/mac ssd drive name/"
ls -l

check the time stamp on your march_kernel, it should be later that everything else
  3. quit Terminal and select myHack via tool bar
  4. in myHack select myFix option to fix disk permission and rebuild cache, when prompted select "quick"
  5. When the process is completed, reboot in to your ssd with the Same bootflag again
  6. You will need to install voodooSync.kext to "System/Library/Extension/" to add support to the 6 core cpu, this file should be in the RampageDev DMG file
  • PS. you can install kext file using kextWizard and other free tools, do not use copy/paste

 

    8. go to your ssd/Extra and replace chameleon.boot.plist with one from the DMG and double check if GraphicsEnabler is set to No and boot flag has npci=0x2000

    9. restart your computer and you shouldn't need to do anything for it to boot in to mac

So, maybe this time it will be good so I write it here for others ...

Tried all again :

 

  1. Downloaded Mavericks 10.9.1
  2. Made USB with MyHack folowing RampageDev's tutorial
  3. Copied the mach_kernel over the usb_drive as I am using an 4930K (ivy bridge extreme)
  4. Booted finally with : -v -f cpus=1 npci=0x3000 GraphicsEnabler=No
    1. cried victory too late, my ssd drives doesn't show in installer.
    2. used the file from this post (untitled folder 2, on post), to be able to see my harddrives on disk utility and format one for mavericks install.
      1. ​i putted this file in usbdrive/Extra/Extensions/ and booted again with same bootflags
  5. ​​...

Tried but didn't change anything. I'm trying now from the "Vanilla OS X" method.


Here is my "route" :


  1. Format USB disk (name:usb, mac os extended journalised, guid)
  2. Restore from Mavericks DMG as says the tutorial.
  3. Extracted mach_kernel from pkg, and put it on root on usb. (also keep RD mach_kernel in case of)
    1. used the one from RD, as the other one wasn't working ... (black screen at boot)

  4. Patch the installer
  5. Copy FakeSMC and NullCPUManagement to /S/L/E/ on usb
  6. Installed Chameleon Bootloader over it.
  7. Created SMBios for MacPro 5.1 in usb/Extra/
    1. Now i can't see my hard drives in Disk Utility when I boot to USB drive.
