DragonOrta
I'm trying to install the marklar-tiger patched ISO on my dell Inspiron 1150. Whenever it gets to the install screen, it is all on a grayscale, and the text is rendered unreadable. I don't know what to do to get around this. If soemone could give me a hand, it would be much appreciated Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/2953-install-screen-unreadable-in-grayscale/ Share on other sites
MLS
I know that on the Inspiron 1100, older versions of the BIOS have problems with the video memory, maybe it's the same with the 1150 ? If you cannont install with the DVD, you still have the option of using the vmware image method, though it may not change anything about the grayscale issue. DragonOrta
yeah, I've read the threads on the 1100, and changing the video memory from 1mb to 8mb, but the 1150 doesn't have that option in the BIOS. I updated to the latest, and there are no new settings that I can find. nevermind1331
you may want to try the deadmoo image, i think editing the appleintel830.kext and entering your device id will fix it, but only for 10.4.1, im having the same problem on my friends laptop. ill post again if i get ahold of the deadmoo image and test it. macmono
You may be SOL on your install as a result of your video card. When trying the native install, type in ?Video at the prompt when darwin fires up. Those will be your resolution options. When the wiki is back up check the HCL. You most likely have an unsupported video card. I have seen this with the integrated video on i845 chipset and 10.4.3.
