Dean Gunraj
because of the additional support for nvidia cards, 10.4.8 looks juicy 2 me however, is it possible to upgrade without reinstallin or running the setup off of a 10.4.8 x86 dvd I was wondering because as many of you know the 10.4.6 dvd is really just 10.4.4 with the 10.4.6 combined update, can the update be run by itself is what i am tryin to ask... if no or not suggestable because u may replace kexts that contribute to a proper boot, then lemme know and this thread will close that question once and for all Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29526-upgrading-to-1048/ Share on other sites
Rammjet
is it possible to upgrade without reinstallin or running the setup off of a 10.4.8 x86 dvd There is no 10.4.8 install DVD yet. There are several 10.4.8 updaters, however. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29526-upgrading-to-1048/#findComment-203553 Share on other sites

Dean Gunraj
managed to upgrade to 10.4.7, from what i read there is a decent chance that upgrading to 10.4.8 will render my os x install useless, nonbootable and such... did anyone make the switch from 10.4.7 to 10.4.8 successfully? I used the JaS 10.4.6 install dvd and the JaS 10.4.7 update. Any advice would be helpful Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29526-upgrading-to-1048/#findComment-203696 Share on other sites
Guest bikedude880
I upgraded and everything went just fine for me. I would recommend the JaS update however and look for the other threads on it for more help. jan_187
A 10.4.8 full iso, which also supports AMD SSE2 would be very cool I guess the very nice people here are working on it, we just have to be patient. toddicus
did anyone make the switch from 10.4.7 to 10.4.8 successfully? I did, just today. My install was 10.4.4/5 myzar ISO, updated with 10.4.6Intel_V3 (Jas I think). I added some steps and screwed myself up, the moral here is don't skip 10.4.7. I ran Jas 10.4.7 update and 10.4.8 update (for SSE3 only, there is one now for SSE2). All is well, machine run great. Two things to mention, make sure you move the postflight script in the 10.4.8 update into the 'resources' folder, this smooths things out a bit. second, I would recomend backing up your webkit.framework -in /system/library/frameworks/ I don't know if this is usual for most people, but I read others inthe 10.4.8 thread who had the same problem, something in the update sometimes breaks this. If you replace it with your old webkit and repair permissions all is well. Dean Gunraj
some troubling issues... first some abstract using macvidia drivers on geforce 5700 personal cinema updated from 10.4.7 to .8 using kiko update now the issue video is CRAZY there are scanlines on the top half of my screen, if thats what u could call them, and lets say i move a windows the right off screen, it shows up as 4 windows, in like a scanline fashion, same with cursor. system also takes longer to start up, if i move a window over the lines they disappear, its really odd like what happens when ur display draws bigger than the screen, altho thats not the same thing i think Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29526-upgrading-to-1048/#findComment-205152 Share on other sites
