jamiethemorris
So... the differences between the 10.9.1 general update and the mbpr one are just a different kernel and new nvidia drivers? Also, I didn't see it mentioned but there's a 10.9.1 update specific to the 2013 mac pro as well. Riley Freeman
The MacPro one doesn't have a kernel as it's designed to be applied to the MacPro-specific builds of 10.9. It also doesn't have nVidia drivers as it uses ATi gfx. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/294616-mavericks-1091/page/3/#findComment-1977677 Share on other sites
Deep_Thought
Worked without a hitch. Just had to reinstall the kext for ALC892 (of course). Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/294616-mavericks-1091/page/3/#findComment-1977697 Share on other sites

jamiethemorris
I don't know what the best tool is to compare the contents of folders (I don't think diff scans recursively), but just taking a glance at the different updates compared to the regular one: Mac Pro: -a lot less files than the generic one. I see it has some new ati drivers, but why does it come with amd2400/3800/4600/etc when it really only needs the kext for the cards it uses? -No AppleHDA -2 New thunderbolt kexts -new maps app MPBr: -Intel, ATI, and Nvidia kexts -4 new thunderbolt kexts -new kextload and kextunload -new maps, ibooks, and boot camp assistant -several binaries in /usr/sbin and /usr/libexec related to kexts Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/294616-mavericks-1091/page/3/#findComment-1977899 Share on other sites
