slemblod
Is Chameleon not booting Ubuntu? Is there a specific reason you need to use grub2? I do not think grub2 can boot OS X, but I could be mistaken. Mikethebike
I already use grub with ubuntu. The usb stick uses klover but I can only select that in the bios to boot, hence it doesn't look like it installed klover. To not mess up things it would be easiest to use grub2 on my pc? Grub probably thinks to be on a mac? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/293381-boot-with-grub2/#findComment-1961911 Share on other sites
slemblod
I believe grub can boot a native OS X installation on an authentic Mac, but since Chameleon relies on the boot loader to load e.g. SMBios, org.chameleon.boot.plist and other more low level stuff I don't think grub2 can boot a Hackintosh very easily. See more here and here. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/293381-boot-with-grub2/#findComment-1963235 Share on other sites
bcc9
With grub2, I use: menuentry 'osx' { insmod hfsplus search --file --set=root /boot multiboot /boot }to chainload chameleon. Works fine on my fedora system. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/293381-boot-with-grub2/#findComment-1963268 Share on other sites
Mikethebike
ahh yes I remember such for my first hackintosh. You have to put something magic into /boot on Linux, but I forgot the link. Would you have the link? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/293381-boot-with-grub2/#findComment-1964374 Share on other sites
Mikethebike
well there's /boot on my mac partition and gets found. But grub says: multiboot does not include selected device, enter hex device number but I cannot enter 51 for sdb1.
