Alaric323 Posted October 22, 2013 Share Posted October 22, 2013 To anyone that may be able to help, I successfully "installed" OS X 10.8.2 on an Alienware M14x R1 using a distro (I have a legal copy, though). However, when I attempt to boot, the intro fails to start, and the cursor doesn't appear. In Verbose, everything seems to boot properly, but the hard drive indicator continues to light up even though the screen fails to change. So, in other words, I believe I'm not getting any video output, even though the Operating System is already running. My specifications: Intel Core i5-2410M 2.30 GHz Intel HD Graphics 3000/nVidia GTX 555m Seagate Momentus 750GB HHD Bios version A08 SATA mode is AHCI Speedstep/Virtualization are ON NVINIT and Inject are installed Things I've tried: -v -f -x npci=0x3000 GraphicsEnabler=no Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I will, however, try disabling virtualization when i get the chance, even though in my experience with different machines and hackintosh disabling virtualization didn't help with other problems. I've tried with both virtualization and without, but the same problem occurs (obviously without the Nvidia initialization, of course). Any other suggestions? dcai777 Posted October 24, 2013 Share Posted October 24, 2013 no you have to delete the built-in kexts. boot with -s and mount the hd. type in cd /System/Library/Extensions/ then hit enter then type ls then press enter then use rm -rf "the name of the kext".kext and FYI, there will be more than i GeForce related kext. delete ALL of them. I'm going to check my boot.plist for a sec, see if there's something in there.Any other suggestions in the meantime? EDIT: I found that EthernetBuiltIn is enabled and the streamlined kernel flags are npci=0x2000 and darkwake=0. Should I change one of these? Even though I've done everything to make the the installation rely on only one graphics card, the lack of a welcome screen continues to occur. xplus93 Posted March 6, 2014 Share Posted March 6, 2014 I used a USB image based distro. I don't think it had a specific name. Anyways, look for one of those, and flash it to a thumb drive. I do know there was an issue with one of the more recent bootloaders that uses a mouse for navigation. The internal trackpad isn't recognized and the usb ports don't work. I had to push one of the function keys to get to the older chameleon bootloader and from there I could type in the boot flags. The biggest problem I have now is getting a boot loader installed. I'm about to follow this guide here and see if I can get it working.http://www.macbreaker.com/2012/02/hackintosh-boot0-error.html Edit: I hope i'm not breaking any rules since i'm not linking to anything, but the usb image I got was a .raw file in a torrent you can find with the keywords "Mavericks USB" on an extremely popular tracker. andon21 Posted March 14, 2014 Share Posted March 14, 2014 Gents I come bearing good news, I have the same laptop as yourselves and can tell you that OS X86 is indeed possible. Niresh is the place to go if you just want something working. Most of it works out of the box. Once you have the system up and running you can switch your smbios to a MBP 8,1 for your display to start. I'm currently starting from scratch as I don't like not having proper power management.
