I finally got the Dev CD to boot!

Unfortunatly, I can't install this sucker. When it boots into the installer program, it asks me to accept this license agreement. I do, then it brings me to the next step, "Select Destination." It says: "Select a destination volume to install the MacOSX software." However, nothing shows up. The box is completely blank. I made the partition using the tutorial here:

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...le_And_Accurate

using the diskpart method and labeling it id=af. I made it active, but it still doesn't see it in the Destination box. Am I doing this wrong? It doesn't see ANY of my 4 partitions. The af partition is a primary. I have:

WinXP = 136 gb

af = 8gb

Linux = 56 gb

linux swap = 2gb

Is there another method to get this partion to work? When booting I also tried using -v. I noticed it said this:

localhost diskarbitrationd[33]: unable to mount /dev/disk0s1 (status code 0x00000047)

Is this failing to mount my harddrive? If I go into the sytem viewer program, it recognizes my HDD. What's the problem? Any ideas?

Thanks

Hmmm... I just used the Disk Utility on the Dev DVD to make a usable partition but I wouldn't recommend that if you're doing it on a drive with doodle you want to keep on it... I love having two HDs lol

What do you mean: "Disk Utility on the Dev kit"? Do you mean when I boot of of the DVD there is a Disk Utility?

Beat me to it, lol.

But maybe he has the same problem as me where my SATA drive is invisible. Doesn't OSx86 have problems with SATA drives?

Only thing that shows on mine is the DVD Drives. I know it will work on a PATA drive because I had an old one kicking about and that installed ok but it's a real flaky drive so ordered a new one which should be here tomorrow, then i'll install again.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi

I'm having the exact same problem trying to install from DVD with the HD not being mounted and the installer not picking up the AF partition.

I rebooted into XP and went back into DiskPart and made sure the AF partition was set as active. Then exited command prompt and restarted the PC.

I then re-inserted the OSX install DVD to install OSX and got to the same point again with the same result - no disk at all in the installation drives menu. None of the partitions including the AF partition appear to be mounted.

So I looked in System Profiler at the ATA devices - on the HD it lists the 3 NTFS partitions and a single FAT32 partition (as it should be) but the newly created AF partition isn't listed.

I then quit the installer and restarted the pc again...

This time XP won't boot and I'm left with an "Error loading operating system_" message.

Can anybody help please (to at least get XP booting up again)?

Thanks

Furri
