ameris_cyning
You would have a better chance with Linux than BSD. Not too many Mac users use BSD

Not too many Mac users use BSD It works like a charm on FreeBSD 10.0-ALPHA1. BTW: glxgears shows much better results under FreeBSD Xorg than on Mountain Lion. GIMP which I am using from the first version is much better too. I don't miss ML anymore.

starikarp
I am glad to hear of your success! Yeah, OS X sucks when it comes to free software. GIMP is a joke on OS X It is so easy to install now. Also wjo has not experience with partitioning can do install. Bsdinstall has also "auto" or something like this. And follow https://glenbarber.us/2011/11/12/Dual-Booting-OS-X-and-FreeBSD-9.html should work. For me was problem with Xorg because iMac 11,1 has Radeon gr. card which need KMS which is not yet in FreeBSD 9* but it is in FreeBSD 10.0-ALPHA (current) and it works. The problem is for me just sound which I am not successful yet.
