I can't get them to work as intended. My mouse is a generic one and no official utility or driver available. I've installed USB Overdrive as many people recommended but I don't know how to assign the back and forward actions to these buttons (?). any help will be appreciated.

The software I'm using allows me to assign buttons to keyboard shortcuts. I don't know about yours though.

In most OS X applications the shortcut for back is

⌘[

and for forward it is

⌘]

which on my International keyboard corresponds to

⌘⌥8

 and

⌘⌥9

Thanks and what software are you using? I don't how to make the mapping work in USB Overdrive. Besides this thing is shareware and shows a message in every boot.

EDIT: The only thing I made it work is autoscrolling.

Made it work after some reboot :thumbsup_anim: . Now I will figure how to reduce the wheel scroll speed as it's still too fast at the slowest scroll speed setting.
