ludufre
Hello everybody, good night. Currently I use a desktop computer (literally desktop format, not is tower, the monitor is above), that don't have space for a standard VGA. Someone know some VGA that fits in this desktop? Everything works perfectly, except the integrated video graphics in CPU. My desktop: Dell Optiplex 790 DT (size: 14,17 x 4,02 x 16,14): Inside view: Thanks a lot! Sincerely, Luan Eduardo. WaldMeister
Hi, Looking at the case, do a search for PCI-e graphic cards. Based on your signature, i would say the Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT, to start with, it's cheap, (If still available) but enough for testing. Best of luck. 3.14r2
You need a Low Profile card (LP). This for instance http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N210-MD1G-D3.html 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/290025-where-i-find-a-dell-790-desktop-vga-that-fits/#findComment-1926381 Share on other sites
ludufre
Interesting. I know where to get one of these GT210. Will I have problems with 64bit drivers? My intention is to use at least the Mountain Lion with full QE/CI. You need a Low Profile card (LP). 3.14r2
I have the card and it is working in Snow Leopard (64 bit), so I guess it should work in newer OS X versions too. ludufre
Only found the 7200GS, but it was defective. Freezes on OSX and Windows. Then later I got a 7300GS which worked perfectly on Snow Leopard. As my goal is to install the Mountain Lion, it was not compatible with it, it does not have drivers for NVDANV40Hal.kext ML. Today I will buy this MSI N210-MD1G/D3. I know it will work in Mountain Lion. My concern is whether it will be compatible in the future, because the 7xxx series was discontinued. 3.14r2
My concern is whether it will be compatible in the future, because the 7xxx series was discontinued. I guess it should be. With 10.9 at least. GMA950 is not compatible with anything above 10.6.8 but still some people managed to make it work in ML. So there is a hope As for 7xxx you could try searching eBay. Most likely there are some options. ludufre
In Mountain Lion the 7xxx was discontinued, because they uses the NVDANV40Hal.kext that isn't present. I'll buy the Geforce 210 (N210-MD1G/D3) that's compatible with Mountain Lion. ludufre
Good news! I bought a GT 210 (MSI N210-MD1G/D3). Worked perfectly in Mountain Lion. I will soon post an installation guide of the Mountain Lion in this desktop (Dell Optiplex 790). Thanks for the support!
