np101137
you would have to format it to hfs in the installer. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28996-could-not-read-partition-map/#findComment-199052 Share on other sites

MoNo®
It did when creating a partition with diskpart. OSX is running now! Few more questions; 1. How do I connect to the internet? I have a Broadcom ethernet card and a Intel Wireless. 2. How do I get the screen to get 1920*1200. Do I need drivers for that? I have an NVIDIA Go Geforce 6800. MoNo®
I´ve got Ethernet functioning by installing 10.4.6. Is it possible to upgrade using the 10.4.7 DVD? I`m also missing sound drivers for my SigmaTel C-Major Audio which can`t utilise the AppleAC97 driver. I get an error at startup which says that the driver hasn`t been installed correctly. Rammjet
Sigmatel - there are only a couple of Sigmatel sound systems that currently work. Provide the model number like 9200 or search on Sigmatel The 10.4.7 DVD will probably not allow you to update. Many of the packages and receipts installed by 10.4.6 have the same name as those in 10.4.7, so they won't be recognized as needing updating by the 10.4.7 DVD. You should find the JaS 10.4.7 update and the SemjaZa 10.4.7 decrypts and use them to update your system. To fix your AC97 kext, first get the correct name of the kext from the error message, then go to Terminal and do the following: cd /System/Library/Extensions sudo find (name-of-kext) -type d -exec /bin/chmod 0755 {} \; sudo find (name-of-kext) -type f -exec /bin/chmod 0644 {} \; Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28996-could-not-read-partition-map/#findComment-199380 Share on other sites
MoNo®
Great answers. I've found a 10.4.8 update; This is the pacthed OS X 10.4.8 Update, it is a combo update so it will install on all OS X versions. Do not post here for support as it will not be answered, instead go to forum.insanelymac.com for help I do not know if it works on AMD but i have no reason to see why it shouldnt. Will this work? Also my internet connection dropped out for about an hour ago. Any help/suggestions on how to get it back? Rammjet
10.4.8 - brand spankin' new. Why not let it simmer for a while and see what shakes out? Internet - if it is the computer, try rebooting. If it is your router or your ADSL/cable modem or your ISP, then look there. MoNo®
Got the sound and network working again. Now it's only to get the iTunes working. Do you have some tricks for my Centrino M processor which only supports SSE2? I have searched, but I haven't figured out how to find/install Nexxuss' patch.
