Hard Lock Crashes - Random in nature!

Hi

I am having an issue with me Hackintosh.

Firstly - what I am doing at the time:-

- iTunes is running and is playing music

- I am using other applications such as Illustrator and/or Coda.

- Have Firefox and Mail open.

So I am working away - and boom - the system locks up.  Until now, it has just been a hard system lock - screen freezes and the audio just loops itself every half a second.  If this is a kernel panic, there is no debugging information on the screen as is usually present.  Only way for me to get the system back up is to hard-reset.

Today however, I did get the kernel panic debugging information.  I didn't take a picture of what it said as I didn't realise the KP wouldn't log to console.  All I remember is there was a reference to Firefox in there.  Why Firefox would cause a KP - I do not know.

I have my suspicions that there is something wrong with the audio set up.  I think this because a) I have never had a crash where the audio would loop in the background while the screen just freezes and B) I have seen this error in the console a few times - I can't recall if it was every time the system hard locked.

For the record - I am using the non-DSDT method of that beast app for ALC898 (I know we're not to support that software - sorry).

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions to as to what can be causing these crashes?

I am going to use the computer without iTunes for a  few days.  See if it crashes at all.

Thanks

Sorry I forgot to say,

This has only just started in the last couple of weeks and it has only done it a handful of times.

I am sure my computer had been on 10.8.3 for a while before it started.  I have just upgraded to 10.8.4 hoping that had sorted it.  Incidentally - this is the first time it has done it since updating to 10.8.4 along with the first time I have the KP debug information.
