Installing a JaS 10.5.4 osx86 client/server distro

I just got the distro few days ago and it is time for me to share a little experience to other on how to install the JaS 10.5.4 osx86 client/server distro. Its been a while since my last sucessful installation using Kalyway 10.5.1 distro and upgraded to 10.5.2.

 

Tonite is going to be a very long nite, maybe. Hopefully the installation process will going smooth.

 

Finally i got the welcome animated screen with sound. I did several try installation process. First thing to do is to go into the system profiler. Some of the information is kinda weird.

 

- The System Profiler cant read my RAM profile

- PCI card not detected (i have Wifi PCI card that was working fine in 10.4.8 and 10.5.2)

- SATA Unknown AHCI Standard Controller

- The Marvel Yukon network card not detected (driver installed)

 

The rest is just fine. I might need to do a little work on this.

 

Now im starting all over again. Erase all the partition and start to clean install. BTW, before going further I need to write down the BIOS setting and which SATA port that I connect my 500GB WDC Hard drive.

 

- connect the HDD into the purple SATA

- bios setting :

Integrated Peripheral

Set "Sata Port0-3 Native Mode" = Disabled

Set "OnBoard SATA/IDE Device" = Enabled

Set "OnBoard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode" = AHCI

 

As usual, boot from DVD-ROM. Press F8 boot: -v [enter]

I make 3 partitions : 250 GB Main HD, 125 GB Storage 1, 125 GB Storage 2

Customize Install Option:

- Kernel Package -> StageXNU

- Chipset Driver -> Intel-ICHX

- Audio -> AL888

- Video Card Driver -> NVkush

- Device Identification

-> Generic SATA Drive Icon Fix

-> Intel ICH and PIIX Controller

-> intel ICH8 and ICH9 Controller

-> JMicron Controller

- CleanUp

 

Install run for about 10 minutes, restart.

Before it goes into boot, I change the bios:

- Integrated Peripheral

Set "Sata Port0-3 Native Mode" = Disabled

- Save & Exit

 

Boot time ! Voila !!
