  1. It so good to see this forum again after many years. Haven't been able to keep up with the new OS released by Apple. What I see is no more Distro ? And the forum is upgraded as well.. What I'm planning to do is : Mod my old G5 into Hackintosh G5 and part of that project what I will use is : Backplate G5 Conversion kits from Laserhive Front Panel G5 Coversion kits from Laserhive With those 2 conversion kit, my mod G5 would be awesome to put on top of my workstation. Inside the case, I will probably do some improvise. Will see about it. Here's the component list : - Mobo Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5 TH - Processor Intel iCore i5-4670 - RAM CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model CMY16GX3M2A1866C9 (Silver) - HDD WDC 1 TB - VGA ? I will use NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 later after the project is done (optional) - PSU I still have the old one Silverstone 600 WATT - DVD/CD ? i don't think i need that one now, but i just using my old one is not necessary at the moment. Am i missing something ? OS X -> Mavericks 10.9.2 will research some more because 10.9.1 still have some issue. I think that's my plan for now. Any suggestion ? Please let me know. Thank you guys.... And good to see you all again..

good luck, eswar. hope you can get through this problem. you might try the iDeneb v 1.3 10.5.5 distro evetough it's not working out of box to my rig. maybe is just need a little work, but i dont have the time at the moment. i will post my experience with iDeneb installer soon.
  5. Handy tools for you to install osx86

eswar, maybe the interface is not attached to the DVD-ROM properly ? it happens to me before because the IDE interface is too close with the power at the back of DVD-ROM. what I did is just to really push it until it properly inserted. i did install several distro, for Leopard version i found is Kalyway 10.5.1 (and upgrade to 10.5.2) is the one that really simple and works for me. Tried IATKOS and Leo4All, but it fail me. and I just did JaS 10.5.4 client/server that is most of the device is working out of the box. you can see my new post in this blog. what i want to try for next project is iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5. is there a chance for you to look for a new PATA/SATA DVD-ROM ?
  6. I'm not gone, I'm sick

Taruga, I really hope you will get well soon. I'm very glad that you are working hard to help the community. Most of your work done is helpful. I'll pray for you and will see you soon. regards, Juragan
  7. After 3 unsuccessful consecutive nights, finally i can accomplish the installation by using JaS 10.5.4 osx86 client/server iso. As you may see my previous posting that I'm able to install but some of the device are not working properly. This time I got it right. Here's the step-by-step: Plug the HDD into the purple SATA BIOS Setting : Set "Sata Port0-3 Native Mode" = Enabled Set "OnBoard SATA/IDE Device" = Enabled Set "OnBoard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode" = AHCI (if you set IDE it will take ages) Put the Installer and reboot. when the boot option shows up, press [F8] and then type -v next to "boot:" and hit [enter] Language selection screen show up, then I select English The Installation Screen - Open the Disk Utility make 3 Partitions with GUID 1st. 250GB - HFS+ 2nd. 125GB - HFS+ 3rd. 125GB - FAT32 Customize option: - Essential package (default) - Kernel -> StageXNU - Chipset Driver -> IntelICHX - Video -> NVKush - Audio -> ALC888 - Device Identification -> Generic SATA Drive Icon Fix - SMIBIOS -> MacPro - CleanUp (default) and the installation start. it takes about 15 - 17 minutes. dont bother the estimation time. Restart. I got the ! (in various language) Sound, Video, WiFi, Bluetooth, Mouse, Keyboard, USB, all working properly. I go straight into the System Profiler and found only 1 wierd device detection. "SATA Unknown AHCI Standard Controller" but still it can detect my HDD. Problem that I got is the Ethernet not detected by the system. I tried to look at the .kext file and found that AppleYukon.kext is not there. I was comparing with my other HDD that is already installed Leo Kalyway 10.5.1 upgraded to 10.5.2. What I did is just copy the IONetworkingFamily.kext to /System/Library/Extensions folder and run this command below from the Terminal sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext [Enter] sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext [Enter] Restart. Then to check I go straight into System Preferences, Networking and there you go ! The Ethernet is there, but still mark with red color. Tried to turn off, apply and then turn on, apply again. This time it going green. Here's my rig: Gigabyte 965P-DS3P, Intel core 2 duo E6550, LAN Marvel 8056, Audio Realtek ALC888, ICH8R Southbridge, RAM: Patriot 2GB dual channel, Nvidia GeForce 7600GS, DVD Asus 1608P2S- PATA Linksys WMP54GV2 (Broadcom), HDD SATA Western Digital model: WDC WD5000AACS-00G8BO 500GB Logitech USB Keyboard, Logitech USB Mouse, ViewSonic VA2026W 20" Next post, I will share some screenshot and more on the server installation...

  9. JaS 10.5.4 Client/Server PPF

no ppf from JaS, i guess...
  10. Did JaS release the PPF for JaS 10.5.4 Client/Server PPF distro yet ? Being lazy to dig around.
  11. I just got the distro few days ago and it is time for me to share a little experience to other on how to install the JaS 10.5.4 osx86 client/server distro. Its been a while since my last sucessful installation using Kalyway 10.5.1 distro and upgraded to 10.5.2. Tonite is going to be a very long nite, maybe. Hopefully the installation process will going smooth. Finally i got the welcome animated screen with sound. I did several try installation process. First thing to do is to go into the system profiler. Some of the information is kinda weird. - The System Profiler cant read my RAM profile - PCI card not detected (i have Wifi PCI card that was working fine in 10.4.8 and 10.5.2) - SATA Unknown AHCI Standard Controller - The Marvel Yukon network card not detected (driver installed) The rest is just fine. I might need to do a little work on this. Now im starting all over again. Erase all the partition and start to clean install. BTW, before going further I need to write down the BIOS setting and which SATA port that I connect my 500GB WDC Hard drive. - connect the HDD into the purple SATA - bios setting : Integrated Peripheral Set "Sata Port0-3 Native Mode" = Disabled Set "OnBoard SATA/IDE Device" = Enabled Set "OnBoard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode" = AHCI As usual, boot from DVD-ROM. Press F8 boot: -v [enter] I make 3 partitions : 250 GB Main HD, 125 GB Storage 1, 125 GB Storage 2 Customize Install Option: - Kernel Package -> StageXNU - Chipset Driver -> Intel-ICHX - Audio -> AL888 - Video Card Driver -> NVkush - Device Identification -> Generic SATA Drive Icon Fix -> Intel ICH and PIIX Controller -> intel ICH8 and ICH9 Controller -> JMicron Controller - CleanUp Install run for about 10 minutes, restart. Before it goes into boot, I change the bios: - Integrated Peripheral Set "Sata Port0-3 Native Mode" = Disabled - Save & Exit Boot time ! Voila !!
  12. Handy tools for you to install osx86

@eswar, this tool is to help you install without having a PATA/SATA DVD. Make sure you select the USB CD-ROM not just a CD-ROM from the bios boot selection. It works for me in several motherboard type and i believe it will work for you as well. its a matter of a proper bios setting. hope this help
  13. I recently found this when I was traveling overseas. The guy from Apple reseller at Changi Airport Terminal 3 told me that I can get the official iPhone 3G without a contract in Hong Kong only. The guy was absolutely right... it happens only at Apple store in Hong Kong and you may only buy it in Hong Kong through the online store that can only ship within this city. You may insert any SIM card from any cellular operator. Its a good news at least but you wont get the subsidized price (US$ 199 8GB). Gotta buy with the retail price which is around US $ 700 - $ 800. Try this link and you will know exactly.
  14. Nokia HSDPA and Motorola HSDPA Driver for Leopard
