Eskurza
Hey guys, Just wanted to share my experiance of x86 installation and setup. I have a Dell Precision 530 workstation Intel Xeon 1.7Ghz Processor 1gb rambus ram various harddrives SCSI, IDE etc.. Nvidia Quatro 2 video 64Mb Lg burner etc.. First of all the demoo image worked perfectly for me.. all I did was to dd it to my spare 20gb ide harddrive. keeping my existing winxp installation in my SCSI.. (easier boot this way) I select boot menu -> SCSI for winxp , IDE for x86 onboard AC97 and 3com network card was recognized from the boot immediatly.. Video acceleration / Creative Audigy / AverMedia Tv Tuner However not recognized(well no surprise there) My SCSI harddrive is not recognized either.. I am guessing the the SCSI adapter is not known to the Os X With the sofware I managed to install most of my applications.. Some Successes I had are: 1- Mac Office 2004 2- Logic Pro 7.0 3- iMovie 4-MSN etc.. Limewire however did not work for me for some reason.. instead I am using ACQLITE..(awsome program) Not working applications: 1- I could not get garageband to work..(keeps saying that the library for instruments are not there) 2- Limewire( a bit of a surprise there) So far I am very haapy with the results.. no craches no lags.. no slowness whatsoever.. Only problems are video acceleration i guess.. Once someone helps us out with Nvidia drivers, I am completely swithced. Let me know any solutions to SCSI and Tv tuner.. thanks.. thrunner
Congrats, you may be one of the first to install on a Xeon successfully, but I guess the others were trying for dual Xeon setups: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...pic=387&hl=xeon I guess it is not really a "total success" if your Quartz Extreme/Coregraphics/CreativeAudigy/SCSI and others don't work In any case try to run iTunes and QuickTime video and Safari. I know on a non-Xeon Pentium M laptop, there were problems with the deadmoo image until newer patches were installed.
