pimpd
Hi There, ive just installed Mac OS X from the Patched DVD on my second partition. On the first one ive installed Windows XP. After the succeeded installation of Mac OS, I tried to reboot. But it says : Operating System Not Found. And I cant Boot Mac Os or Windows. Whats the problem? digiplaya2005
Does your system have a bootloader of any kind? (Doesn't have to be GRUB or LILO or any of the Linux bootloaders, could be some software that can boot multiple OSes on one machine.) Just wondering. Metrogirl
You appear to have messed up the partition table so the HD is no longer identified as bootable. There are several tools which will rebuild the partition table but all of them carry some degree of risk. It might be something as simple as each partition being flagged as non-bootable or not primary. That is pretty simple to fix with readily-available utilities. Check this first, for example by connecting the HDD to another computer running Windows and Partition Magic (which you can download for temporary use from various dodgy sites if you don't have it - remember Google is your friend). If that doesn't work you could try reinstalling, which would theoretically rebuild the partition table. You could use a utility to repair the partition table, or if you're feeling confident, edit it manually. You could install a boot loader (sounds like you didn't do this originally). If you don't feel comfortable with the tools when you try them come back and post some more and someone will help you. There are so many tools and so many options that it's not helpful to ask about potential problems; wait until you're trying it for real. Of course it could be some other aspect of the Master Boot Record or even BIOS related and I guess there are even more candidates for this error than I've ever heard about. The only real danger here is that you could lose your Windows partition or its contents if you screw things up too much. ghw9132
If you insert the developer dvd, it should boot to osx (after 8 seconds). if it does, open the startup disk control panel (preference pane) and select the macos folder. exit, eject dvd, reboot. it should boot to macos.
