BIOS upgrade

I have a Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop, which when I tried to install realized that I need to the set the UMA memory to 8MB, instead of 1MB.

But that laptop shows a different BIOS setup than my dimension desktop. It has limited settings and no way to change any memory values. How do I upgrade my BIOS, does the latest FlashBIOS have the ability to change UMA memory?

Or is there an alternative to doing so.

It is newer and I just updated. But I realized that It doesn't make much of a difference. It adds a password options section but that's all.

Hello Im having the same problem with the BIOS of the 1150. the laptop had originally A06 and i got the latest A07 from dell, flashed it, and this is true, it doesnt give u the option to change the vid mem from 1 to 8. i cant seems to find a newer BIOS from dell. would it be possible to flash it to a different bios? one that was not made for the 1150? a different Dell laptop?
