staringatlights
Hey guys, I have been trying to install OS X since October, on and off. I have followed at least 3 different guides (Lifehacker, #####, iATKOS) and always end up with the same problem. I would appreciate any help you can toss my way. Specs: MB: MSI P55A-G55 Video: MSI NVIDIA GeForce 570GTX OC CPU: Intel Core i5 760 (Lynnfield) 1156 The problem in a nutshell: After installing OS X, I can boot into normal mode as long as no NVIDIA drivers are installed. As soon as I install drivers, whether the included ones in #####, or iATKOS, or downloaded from the NVIDIA website for 10.8.2, I cannot boot in either normal mode or safe mode. There are no kernel panics, after the system appears to boot, the screen goes black, and the monitor displays "No signal". My most recent attempt involved using the iATKOS ML2 build, installing without NVIDIA drivers, then installing the NVIDIA drivers from the website, and modifying the GF100HAL.kext (cant remember the exact name) to include the device ID of my GPU. This did not work, and results in the same black screen trap. Right now I have a USB key with iATKOS, and a USB key generated with #####. iATKOS is currently installed, but wont boot in normal mode or safe mode. I have a valid version of OS X purchased from the App Store, and I have a MacBook Pro available to use. If you can help me get this working, I owe you my first born. jamiethemorris
that card should be more or less supported natively, so make sure you're not using nvenabler out anything like that. have you tried aty_init.kext? You should post what you have tried as far as boot flags, smbios, and third party kexts goes. staringatlights
In order to boot either the installer or OS X, I must delete the nvidia drivers from S/L/E. I can boot the installer with -v npci=0x2000 and I can only boot OSX with -v -x npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No If I install the nvidia drivers from the website, I can no longer get into safe boot. I tried device id injection on the drivers aswell with no success. I haven't tried any other kexts. I haven't heard of aty_init.kext but I will try to look it up. jamiethemorris
it's for ati cards but I seem to remember people needing it for some nvidia cards as well.
