  1. GTX570 and black screen hell

In order to boot either the installer or OS X, I must delete the nvidia drivers from S/L/E. I can boot the installer with -v npci=0x2000 and I can only boot OSX with -v -x npci=0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No If I install the nvidia drivers from the website, I can no longer get into safe boot. I tried device id injection on the drivers aswell with no success. I haven't tried any other kexts. I haven't heard of aty_init.kext but I will try to look it up.
  2. Hey guys, I have been trying to install OS X since October, on and off. I have followed at least 3 different guides (Lifehacker, #####, iATKOS) and always end up with the same problem. I would appreciate any help you can toss my way. Specs: MB: MSI P55A-G55 Video: MSI NVIDIA GeForce 570GTX OC CPU: Intel Core i5 760 (Lynnfield) 1156 The problem in a nutshell: After installing OS X, I can boot into normal mode as long as no NVIDIA drivers are installed. As soon as I install drivers, whether the included ones in #####, or iATKOS, or downloaded from the NVIDIA website for 10.8.2, I cannot boot in either normal mode or safe mode. There are no kernel panics, after the system appears to boot, the screen goes black, and the monitor displays "No signal". My most recent attempt involved using the iATKOS ML2 build, installing without NVIDIA drivers, then installing the NVIDIA drivers from the website, and modifying the GF100HAL.kext (cant remember the exact name) to include the device ID of my GPU. This did not work, and results in the same black screen trap. Right now I have a USB key with iATKOS, and a USB key generated with #####. iATKOS is currently installed, but wont boot in normal mode or safe mode. I have a valid version of OS X purchased from the App Store, and I have a MacBook Pro available to use. If you can help me get this working, I owe you my first born.
  3. I read that the GTX570 is natively supported in 10.8.2. I must have gone terribly wrong in my install somewhere, because mine isn't properly recognized. During installation I suffered from blank screens and deleted the NVDAGF100Hal.kext driver in order to boot normally. I tried to get the NVIDIA 570 GTX to work under 10.8 using the 300.4 drivers, it didn't have any effect. Booting with GraphicsEnabler=No (or Yes) has no effect. Im a little confused with how I should properly setup the GTX570. Do I need the NVDAGF100Hal.kext driver? If so, is there something I can do to boot without a blank screen (no signal)? If I don't, how do I get the card recognized? So close, yet so far...
  4. Hey, I managed to get OS X installed on my machine today, and I can boot into safe mode with -x but I'm unable to boot normally. I'm looking for some help deciphering my kernel panic: panic(cpu 2 caller 0xffffff8000243d5e): "a freed zone element has been modified in zone: kalloc.16"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-2050.7.9/osfmk/kern/zalloc.c:219 Kernel extensions in backtrace: com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily(9.9.9) dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.7) Here is a picture of the left half of the screen (phone won't take a clear enough picture if I stand back for the whole screen) during the kernel panic. I used ###### after I installed OS X (I've always had to boot into safe mode though) and it didnt seem to help. I'm thinking I need to delete or replace a driver but I don't know what I'm looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated My hardware is: MSI P55A-G55 Intel i5 760 NVIDIA GeForce 570 GTX I'm booting with the flags "-v -f PCIRootUID=1 npci=0x3000 graphicsenabler=no usbbusfix=1"
  5. Unable to reach installer (BootCacheControl error)

That got me into the installer. Thank you!
  6. I am trying to install Mountain Lion on the following hardware: MSI P55A-G55 (with DSDT) Intel i5 760 NVIDIA GeForce 570 GTX I am using the LifeHacker ###### tutorial. Running in verbose mode my boot would stop at PCI Configuration Begin, which I've managed to get through with the following flags: -v -x PCIRootUID=1 npci=0x3000 Now I'm really stuck, the first error I see is: BootCacheControl: Unable to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist : 2 No such file or directory After that there are a few kext load failures, the last one being: Failed to load kext com.apple.driver.AppleUSBHXCI (error 0xdc008016) (let me know if you need to see all the failed kexts, or if i need to remove them from the bootable USB stick in order to get to the installer) After that my screen loses signal (the PC is still running) and goes to sleep. I have been researching the issue all day, and I've tried a tonne of different boot flag combinations. The latest combination I tried was: -v -x -f PCIRootUID=1 npci=0x3000 GraphicsEnabler=no Any help would be greatly appreciated
