refit menu issue

2 posts in this topic

Recommended Posts

hi, first time poster, very new macbook owner.

just successfully set up a brand new macbook 9,1 as a triple boot:

OSX, Win7, Ubuntu 13.04, with a common data sharing drive.

all the installations work well, very happy about that.

one issue i have is that on the refit menu there are options to boot to:

1. OSX

2. OSX recovery

3. Windows 7

4. Linux

5. Windows 7

both Win7 options work to boot to windows so it is not a big issue but it would be nice to fix it up so that the only options were:

1. OSX

2. Win7

3. Linux

I would hate to mess things up now that I have gotten so far, so I was hoping that someone here would have some advice. There is a link to this forum from the refit resources page so I figure this is the place to start my inquiry.

here is the output of a partition inspector scan:

Can you first back-up the GPT or MBR?  I forget which, the rEFIt sync tool will use as the master.  If you have it backed up, you can change to your hearts content, and restore it if you mess up.

I've done a dual boot on my mac book pro (late 2013 I think) and to access it I need Refit. It worked well but today I tried to re-install it and it doesn't work.
I put the the refi folder in the root level of my mac. Then I did the command
      cd /efi/refit then the
./enable.sh in the Terminal. but it responded me
Can't delete /var/folders/zz/zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_n0000000000000/T/bless.8vwY/CF413253-A4C5-3892-991E-F5E65DA3305E/System/Library/CoreServices/.disk_label: Operation not permitted Could not write scale 1 bitmap label file Couldn't write label file "/var/folders/zz/zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_n0000000000000/T/bless.8vwY/CF413253-A4C5-3892-991E-F5E65DA3305E/System/Library/CoreServices/.disk_label"Couldn't bless the APFS preboot volume for volume mounted at /: Operation not permitted And when I reboot the computer it restart normally.
      If someone can help me...
      Thank you !
P.S. The english isn't my language so perhaps is there some language errors. Please don't mind them.

      Hello All,
I have a dell e6420 laptop which i have setup for triple boot. i just realized that i followed an old guide and thus it might be why I'm having freezes on minimize windows. specifically browser windows.
      this is what i did:
      install osx el capitan
      created 2 partitions fat
      installed windows
      installed ubuntu
installed gptsync on ubuntu to keep all partitions sync'ed.
went back to windows and made OSX partition active so that clover will boot.
now everything works fine, but i have a very strange issue.
when i hit minimize, the window freezes half way down and then it goes to the dock. sometimes it just hangs and i have to reboot.
this issue is only on OSX. windows and linux don't exhibit this issue.
i thought my issue was related to installing gptsync under linux, so i have removed it after reading other triple boot guides but the issue remains. it seems keeping the partitions in sync is no longer needed.
      Dell E6420
      8GB RAM
      525 GB Crucial SSD
      intel i7 2.8Ghz
      1600x900 Display
is there a log that i can attach to try and see where this issue is coming from ?

Hey guys! I'm planning on also doing a triple boot hackintosh with a Skylake system.

I want to install the OSs on a 512 M.2 NVMe SSD. Any suggestions as to the order of install? I know people have said that order doesn't matter but what order do you guys think would be the easiest? Right now I'm thinking the order would be Windows 10, Ubuntu, El Capitan.

Additionally what partition table should I use? Also, I think I should make the 3 partitions for the OSs before installing with an additional partition for swap/grub or something of the sort to manage the booting up (4 total partitions). Thoughts?
