dysonsphere
hi, first time poster, very new macbook owner. just successfully set up a brand new macbook 9,1 as a triple boot: OSX, Win7, Ubuntu 13.04, with a common data sharing drive. all the installations work well, very happy about that. one issue i have is that on the refit menu there are options to boot to: 1. OSX 2. OSX recovery 3. Windows 7 4. Linux 5. Windows 7 both Win7 options work to boot to windows so it is not a big issue but it would be nice to fix it up so that the only options were: 1. OSX 2. Win7 3. Linux I would hate to mess things up now that I have gotten so far, so I was hoping that someone here would have some advice. There is a link to this forum from the refit resources page so I figure this is the place to start my inquiry. here is the output of a partition inspector scan: *** Report for internal hard disk *** Current GPT partition table: # Start LBA End LBA Type 1 40 409639 EFI System (FAT) 2 409640 195722135 Mac OS X HFS+ 3 195722136 196991671 Mac OS X Boot 4 196993024 685271039 Basic Data 5 685271040 880583535 Basic Data 6 880583536 1464886983 Basic Data Current MBR partition table: # A Start LBA End LBA Type 1 1 196993023 ee EFI Protective 2 * 196993024 685271039 07 NTFS/HPFS 3 685271040 880583535 83 Linux 4 880583536 1464886983 07 NTFS/HPFS MBR contents: Boot Code: Unknown, but bootable Partition at LBA 40: Boot Code: None (Non-system disk message) File System: FAT32 Listed in GPT as partition 1, type EFI System (FAT) Partition at LBA 409640: Boot Code: None File System: HFS Extended (HFS+) Listed in GPT as partition 2, type Mac OS X HFS+ Partition at LBA 195722136: Boot Code: None File System: HFS Extended (HFS+) Listed in GPT as partition 3, type Mac OS X Boot Partition at LBA 196993024: Boot Code: Windows BOOTMGR (Vista) File System: NTFS Listed in GPT as partition 4, type Basic Data Listed in MBR as partition 2, type 07 NTFS/HPFS, active Partition at LBA 685271040: Boot Code: GRUB File System: ext4 Listed in GPT as partition 5, type Basic Data Listed in MBR as partition 3, type 83 Linux Partition at LBA 880583536: Boot Code: Windows BOOTMGR (Vista) File System: NTFS Listed in GPT as partition 6, type Basic Data Listed in MBR as partition 4, type 07 NTFS/HPFS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/287182-refit-menu-issue/ Share on other sites
mekineer
Can you first back-up the GPT or MBR? I forget which, the rEFIt sync tool will use as the master. If you have it backed up, you can change to your hearts content, and restore it if you mess up.
