Hey guys. I just ran accross the following:

"Not all Macs feature an Apple Remote “in-the-box,” including the latest Mac Pro desktops. It doesn't matter if you have a G3 or an Intel Mac, with mira and a supported IR receiver, you can use the Apple Remote with any application."

The software is $16 and it works with the following:

Manta TR1 IR Transceiver (from Twisted Melon for use with any Mac)

Apple Built-In IR Receiver (found in most new Mac models)

eHome IR Receiver (used with some Windows MCE systems and devices)

eHome IR Transceiver (used with most Windows MCE systems)

The first one is recommended but it currently in backorder.

BTW I got EyeTV Hybrid digital analog usb2 tv tuner that works on my amd64 os x. And if I get the above working. I can turn my hackintosh into a full media center controlled by the apple remote!

What are your toughts?

Any update? How does the EyeTV Hybrid work for you? I'm thinking about getting one and replacing a TiVo Series 1 with it. Just checking the video quality, etc..

Thanks!

Well the Hybrid works and the software is very good, it's just that my cable signal is close to none and the picture is {censored}. But it is the same on my tv as well...

Anyways it's a nice little tunner and if you have ATSC broadcasts or a good digital cable service near you I think you will be happy.
