No, do not try going straight Lion. The legacy kernel for Lion is not very stable. For now, stay on Snow Leopard. I'd recommend doing a clean install of Snow Leopard using the ModCD. When booting, try adding

-force64

when you are at the boot screen.

If your still getting same error, since it's the boot cache that is causing the kernel panic, skip loading it by using boot flag -f

Tried that and am getting a new screen, here is what i typed prior to starting the load

rd(0,0)/extra/mach_kernel arch=i386 busratio=18 -v -f

rd(0,0)/extra/mach_kernel arch=i386 busratio=20 -v -f

rd(0,0)/extra/mach_kernel arch=i386 busratio=18 -force64 -v -f

rd(0,0)/extra/mach_kernel arch=i386 busratio=20 -force64 -v -f

rd(0,0)/extra/modbin_kernel arch=i386 busratio=18 -v -f

rd(0,0)/extra/modbin_kernel arch=i386 busratio=20 -v -f

rd(0,0)/extra/modbin_kernel arch=i386 busratio=18 -force64 -v -f

rd(0,0)/extra/modbin_kernel arch=i386 busratio=20 -force64 -v -f

After each attempt a lot of code scrolls by before it saying to hit enter here is what happens

The version of osx was restored from my retail Disk to a 40 gig USB as the pc I will be using does not have a cd drive do I possibly need some patch for the version since it was setup in disk management using the restore .dmg to drive function

Thanks all help is appreciated greatly

Just tried this rd(0,0)/extra/mach_kernel arch=i386 busratio=18 -v -f -x

Read it was a safe mode boot got this error (second pic)

Do you have fakeSMC installed?

And where is it saying hit enter?

Ok, obviously you don't have fakeSMC installed cause you haven't technically installed anything yet :), but I'm a little curious about your methods to make this USB from CD, is it real retail apple CD with picture of Snow Leopord on it and not a grey one? And how did you restore and also apply mod? I'll read that thread you linked too right now to get a better idea

OK, pretty straight forward as far as creating the installer, and I see you have evoreboot and a couple other non-apple kexts trying to load so you at least got most the mod stuff installed too. The entire family of ACPI and related kexts are failing to load atm, and once one fails, they all do. Normally I'd advise a roll back to 10.6.3 version, but that's what your running :) Sure you don't want an intel instead? Keep messing with it and I need to look into something. Also check bios settings for anything related acpi

had my buddy use his imac to rip the iso to dmg from the retail disk, then used disk utility to restore the usb drive with tthe .dmg file, once that was completed used the nawcom bootusb pkg to install the boot loader to the usb. so far just frustrated may have to drop some cash on a dvd drive... which i am trying to avoid.

Just noticed something, don't use rd(0,0) as that would be location for a DVD, which you arent using. If this is usb drive and you also have internal HD, it will proabably be 2,1 or 1,1

Or just leave that part out all together. See if that makes any difference

Hey so I have a DVD drive now, am using the latest nawcom bootcd.

After typing rd(0,0)/extra/modbin_kernel arch=i386 busratio=18 -v

The load starts but is now getting stuck at still waiting for root device.

The hdd is set up as GTP from windows disk management and formatted to fat32 the bios is set to AHIC for the hdd and for the cd rom IDE. Here is a screen shot please help as I am lost
