no sound in quicktime 7.x

Hi all!

 

Just want to ask if any of the SSE2 users here have experienced no sound in Quicktime after updating to 7.13 through the software update?

 

I've tried AppZapping, then using pacifist to install Quicktime from the osx86 CD, but this doesnt seem to fix it.

 

The only other clues I've got is the remnants of Flip and DivX that was intalled prior to the sound failing from 7.13 update.

 

Any of yous experienced this as well?

yea its a sse2 issue, i tried various ways to downgrade but got annoyed and i had to reformat and reinstall os x and am now using iTunes 6.0.5 and QT 7.1.2

I had the same issue, but was able to revert to 7.1.2 after a lot of messing around.

Try this:

* Put Pacifist in the dock. The Finder may break during this.

* Download the QT 7.0.1 reinstaller from here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/qui...icktime704.html

* Download QT 7.1.2 from here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/qui...e712formac.html

* Use Pacifist to install 7.0.1.

* Reboot.

* The Finder will now be broken (7.0.1 is PPC only).

* Use Pacifist to reinstall the following frameworks from your OS X DVD: CoreAudio, AudioToolbox, AudioUnit.

* Use Pacifist to install QT 7.1.2.

* Reboot. The Finder should now work again.

* Run the QT 7.1.2 installer package, it should work perfectly.

* Reboot when prompted.

 

Note: These steps are repeated from memory. I might have missed something. Even if I have not, these steps could still hose OS X. Try them at your own risk!
