I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 and i have OS X 10.4.4 running close to perfectly on it. I have the power meter working which can be found in other threads on here. I learned that you cannot install it to an external USB hard drive at all. But I have a couple issues i was lookin to get some help with.

1. when i close my laptop and reopen it the screen is black and doesnt come back on.

2. Cannot seem to get my wired Broadcom 440x nic to connect to the internet... It finds it but it wont connect through my linksys router.

3. Intel PRO/Wireless 3945A/B/G nic to be found at all.

Would upgrading to a newer version help these issues or am i just kinda screwed on them? I really dont want to spend any money buying an usb wireless card.

Any help would be vastly appreciated.

Also I get sound with my M-Audio mobile pre but i cant get sound with the built-in SigmaTel sound card. any help there would be cool.

Sleep is a problem with many laptops. There is no solution.

In the System Preferences -> Network, under your ethernet device, go to TCP/IP. At the Configure IPv4 popup: select Using DHCP with manual address. Then set the IP address manually in the range of what your router would issue.

There is no solution for 3945. Some people buy a replacement mini-PCI-E card produced by Dell.

Ok i got the wired nic working. turns out windows xp does something that prevents the card from being used before xp starts... for those who are new like me the fix for this is to disable the wired and restart the computer... boot to XP and there you go.

Thanks everyone. this is so much more tollerable than windows.

excuse me type o there its boot to OSX and then it should work.

Are there any plans to get a working driver for the intel 3945 wireless. I would love to do it myself but i dont know how. If someone even knows where i can find out how to compile the damn driver ill give it a try.

wow you are of no help

well i gave you a straight answer. No need to beat around the bush. There is no driver, and seeing as Macs wil never use that chipset doubt intel/mac will ever release one. As for compiling the driver...if it were that easy it would have been done. Someone would need to write a driver from the ground up to get it to work.

so....as I said before "nope" :compress:
