hinmatth
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and Mac! Let me introduce myself! I come from Hong Kong and I am a 15-year-old boy. I am interested in programming and installing some new softwares or operating systems Yesterday, I followed the instructions in a post and installed a new mac on my pc successfully But, I realised that I can't boot normally and I must use '-x -v' to boot. If I use '-x' only, it shows a screen with black and white crappy blocks. I checked the resolution and I found that the resolution is in '1024x768'. I found many solutions to install the kext on my mac but none of them could help me. After I installed the kext and I booted, the monitor said that the video mode is not supported and told me that to reset the screen resolution to '1680x1050@60Hz' My monitor is Philip 220WS8FS Here are my specs: MB: Asus P5Q CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 RAM: Samsung ??? 2x2GB Display card: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4850 HDD: Seagate 500GB Can someone help me to solve this? buoo
Drag ATI4800Controller.kext from System/Library/Extensions to the Desktop, then Show Packages Contents and open info.plist file with a text editor and add your deviceID 0x94421002 Save the file and install the new patched ATI4800Controller.kext with Kext wizard or Terminal, rebuild the kextcache and reboot. i.e. <key>IOName</key> <string>ATI4800Controller</string> <key>IOPCIMatch</key> <string>0x94421002 0x94401002 0x944a1002 0x944c1002 0x944e1002 0x94411002 0x94431002 0x94601002</string> <key>IOProbeScore</key> <integer>65000</integer> <key>IOProviderClass</key> <string>IOPCIDevice</string> </dict> </dict> good luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/277075-mac-os-x-106-on-p5q-with-ati-hd-4850/#findComment-1805743 Share on other sites

buoo
You have to add 0x94421002 To rebuild kext cache you can use kext wizard http://www.insanelym...howtopic=253395 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/277075-mac-os-x-106-on-p5q-with-ati-hd-4850/#findComment-1805839 Share on other sites
hinmatth
Thanks for your reply! I have done the things above... I have rebooted normally and it stucks at the light grey screen again. Then, I've booted with '-v' and it stucks at the screen with white and black crappy blocks Finally, I've booted with '-x -v' and I can log in to the mac successfully. So, what's the problem? Thanks a lot Edited March 15, 2012 by Gringo Vermelho Don't quote entire posts when replying directly below them.
