Funky frank
Hello, I have a strange problem with a uncommon audio midi sequencer software on my Hackintosh. I don't know if this is a problem inside the software or maybe an interrupt problem of my dsdt. The software is beta, so.... I use an external midi synthesizer connected over usb. If the software/daw now renders a song to the SATA harddisk, it plays the external midi gear live. But in the moment the harddrive flashes, there is a glitch in the midi timing, the song stutters in the recording which is really annoying. I also opened other software while rendering, this seems to have no effect on the timing stability of the daw. Could this problem caused by a double used irq or a badly configurated hpet? I have a hpet with 4 iqs inside the dsdt, all irqs I have choosen are not used by any other device. But I am not sure... My question is, if this could be generally possible or not? That harddisk writing could disturb the usb flow, if there is something badly configured.... Thanks for your wise answers. LatinMcG
remove 15 from hpet and leave 0, 8 , 11 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/276677-possible-that-sata-harddrive-access-blocks-usb-flow/#findComment-1803084 Share on other sites
Funky frank
LatinMcG, thanks for the suggestion. However if I only set 3 irqs, I can still see 4 irqs assigned in the IoRegExplorer. One irq will be assigned automatically. Can I prevent this behaviour? But maybe I need 4 irqs on a quad core machine? EDIT: Ok, I used a more recent chameleon build now there are only 3 irqs left in the ioreg, but not the ones I have set in the dsdt....?? These are now 8,11,14. Do I have to use the "ForceHPET" option? EDIT: irq 15 is not used anymore, there are now just 3 irqs used. But the problem still remains.
