would like to 'clone' or copy, or setup whatever bootloader config that iatkos l2 used to boot up, bypass the ati video card issue, and get to the install mac os x screen. this would probably and very likely help get osx lion on hp 6910p (with x2300 ati card) to boot normally but not sure how to do this.

I'm having problems booting hp 6910p laptop as it's stuck right at trying to identify the ATI x2300 card, and quite frankly I hope someone who knows what they are doing, can help.

using the iatkos l2 disc it was able to successfully boot and get into the setup screen to allow me to use disk utility and install mac osx. when that was done, however i cant boot as normal.

i'm guessing if i can do this, then it would solve the current boot issues, which I have for after many days and attempts to get the thing working.

almost given up and hope mountain lion would probably solve all this. :help:

* i have tried selecting either chameleon or chimera bootloaders, and both times still same boot issues.

You can see a bit below about the backgroun of how I arrived to this idea.

Background.

... really lost...

following the guide - cant get past step 3. won't boot.

I've tried all the flags, -x -v -f ge=on/off

can someone help?

* also i've tried the itkos l2 to install on the hp 6910p, which did install Lion to Hard disk ok, but it doesnt boot up to setup user account name and get into wonderland.

* its strange if itkos can get past boot stage to let me use disk utilty to partition the disk and install Lion - but after that doesn't boot up - even trying all the command line flags, why can't ##### get to the same point...

* doing a running journal here - http://bit.ly/Af9bJp

feel free to reply at either

cheers

I would not use a distro. They have more problems than you can imagine. Use a retail disc; I have a Snow Leopard (which is required to upgrade to Lion legally) guide in my signature.

Please post detailed specs of your PC. :)

Radeon X2300...never heard of it. Most likely it will not work with QE/CI (only select ATi cards do).

Whether it works for Lion or not remains to be seen - I don't have a Lion compatible machine, so I haven't tried it.

However, I do know that if it did work, most likely the Lion installation disc will have to be retail, not an iAtkos distro. If you just have to use a distro, well...let me know and I'll see if I can help you on that.

The other thing is once you install SL you can easily upgrade to Lion using ###### or similar.

My guide is a reliable post on installing SL. :D

What happens when you try #####?

The way I understand it, if the install completes, it should run.

Do you have single user mode?

 • 2 weeks later...

I honestly don't recommend boot...there are better solutions available (namely the OSx86 ModCD, which my guide uses). Believe me, I used the OSx86 ModCD when I was a complete and total noob and it worked great. ;)

If it KPs that early in the boot process, most likely you're dealing with a AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext issue.
