Brent McGehee
My system specs Motherboard ASUS M4A87TD EVO processor AMD Phenom II X4 965 Graphics card ATI Radeon HD 4800 Installation media Snow_Leopard_10.6.1-10.6.2_SSE2_SSE3_Intel_AMD_by_Hazard (I have a clean install DVD on hand too.) I used the Newcom's modcd method, and every time I insert my OSX DVD I get a kernel panic. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I am not a newbie when it comes to computers, but as far as mac goes, I most definitely am. audio84
At boot, try using "FSB=200000000" (if your FSB is 200) and "maxmem=4096" (if you have 4GB ram - other values otherwise). Entering these values did the trick for me - I have a Phenom II 955 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/276184-trying-to-install-snow-lepoard-on-amd/#findComment-1799432 Share on other sites
Clayf700
I have screenshots of the kernel panic too if it'll help I had the same problem, when you get to the telephone screen on ModCD, insert the retail version of snow leopard, press F5, hover over the install DVD, and type -force64, to make it boot in 64 bit mode. Tell me if this works! And here are 2 AMD guides that you may find useful: http://www.osx86.net...x-10-6-amd.html http://www.insanelym...howtopic=253767 PM me if it all turns out good Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/276184-trying-to-install-snow-lepoard-on-amd/#findComment-1801076 Share on other sites
brentmcgehee
I know it's probably not best to revive an old topic, but since I couldn't get back into my old account I still need help. I got OSX installed, but now I am running into a new problem. I installed Chameleon Wizzard and I told it to use the boot option for when you have a Mac OSX setup on one hard drive and a WIndows setup on another. Now here's my problem, all the guides say change my hard drive settings to AHCI, but that breaks my WIndows partition, so is there a way I can recover it? Also EVERY time I try to load OSX from the bootloader it either kernel panics or just sits there. It says something about changing something but it goes by too fast for me to read. Please any help would be appreciated.
