Hey I’m slowly getting this installed!

I’ve done a fair amount of searching but can not find an answer so ill ask:

simply put when I’m trying to install the computer can not see any disk to install onto, I had a disk show up earlier for some reason (which has my data on it and is formatted to fat 32) I didn’t want to use that one so I quit vmware and started to fiddle but the hard disk I want to install on will not show up and for some reason the disk I don’t want to install on doesn’t show either anymore!?!? any ideas?

Quite a simple fix:

1) download and install Partition Magic

2) create desired size partition UNFORMATTED and UNALLOCATED.

3) tell your installation to install on this partition and make it HDFS+

4) remember the disk must be a PRIMARY partition

See if that works for ya! ;)

3) tell your installation to install on this partition and make it HDFS+

You cannot install OSX to an unformatted and unallocated partition. You must run Disk Utility as the first step of the installation and format (erase) the partition as HFS+ (MacOS Extended Journaled).

Frequently, Disk Utility generally cannot see an unallocated partition and sometimes cannot see an unformatted partition. It is safer to format the partition as FAT32 after creating it and then formatting it to HFS+ during the installation.
