Hey all, I am kind of new to the forum thing. Figured I would try and get some help, trying to install OS X on my Alienware in driving me crazy. So any help will be much appreciated!

Here are my specs:

 • Intel® Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz, 1993 MHz
 • Intel Sandy Bridge-MB IMC
 • Intel HM67 PCH - LPC Interface Controller [b-3]
 • Intel® HD Graphics 3000
 • NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M
 • Realtek ALC665 @ Intel Cougar Point PCH - High Definition Audio Controller [b-3] PCI
 • Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller PCI
 • Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN PCI
 • NEC uPD720200 USB 3.0 Host Controller

I have tried installing so many different ways!

Here is what I tried:

 • iAtkos L2 - Burned inside of Windows and burned with Disk Utility inside of OSX. When it booted from DVD the bootloader would freeze when I tried to enter boot flags.
 • Snow Leopard + ##### - Could install with arch=i386 busratio=20 maxmem=4096 PCIRootUID=1 GraphicsEnabler = NO. Installed fine, ##### but I could enable HD Graphics 3000, USB 3.0 would lock up the system. Could upate to 10.6.7 but not 10.6.8 (even with BridgeHelper.
 • From Snow Leopard + xmove - Installed Lion fine, could boot with safe mode but nothing would work.

Any help or information on something I might not understand or missed would be greatly appreciated.

Brian

The only reason I installed Snow Leopard was becasue of the Osx86 Wiki, the guide for the alienware 14x says SL + ##### then Upgrade from app store.

But I appreciate it man, I will try it out and post back. Hopefully help anyone else out that has a m14x!

Back to the drawing board :wallbash:

Yeah I couldn't use ##### either, Think it has to do with the lack of USB next. What I did if you feel care enough to try is, have iAtkos L2 on a DVD then install SL. I think mine was 10.6.3?? From there I partitioned my hard drive with a 10GB partition as an extra and then restored the iAtkos DVD image to the partition. Pretty sure I had to use rBoot to get into the installer partition and I think I had to run ##### on the iAtkos partition because iAtkos normally won't recognize your PS2 mouse and keyboard. Good luck, if you need any help just let me know! Maybe we can figure this entire thing out :thumbsup_anim:

As of now the only thing that isn't working is the USB3.0 on the right side of my computer, Nvidia GT555M, HDMI out, and I think that is it. Sound is kind of weird, voodooHDA 2.7 caused a KP for me so I went back the previous version and it gave me a Larsen Effect so I had to tweak 2.6.1 (Volume is sort of low).
