0ntarioS
So, I am a total Mac noob, but i was wondering, if it would he possible to run an NVIDIA card (say gt 240) as a physx card with my hd6870. I once tried it with 8600gt on Windows and worked, but not sure about Mac. Specs: 2500k P8z68-v 8gb memory Club 3d HD 6870 Lion 10.7.2 (through 10.6 with #####+#####, then xmove method lion install. Thx for replies already, as i said I'm a total noob. And yes, tried Google ;-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/274537-ati-nvidia-on-lion/ Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
PhysX is Windows only. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/274537-ati-nvidia-on-lion/#findComment-1785459 Share on other sites
TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
@0ntario5 You could use the card as a dedicated CUDA card. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/274537-ati-nvidia-on-lion/#findComment-1785567 Share on other sites
0ntarioS
@0ntario5 You could use the card as a dedicated CUDA card. Yeah, actually that's what i meant (not physx..) However, would it work? (say CUDA and maybe a third monitor) And how? TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
It would work yes because Netkas had actually gotten this done recently but to pull it off you'll need a DSDT edit to have recognize the second card because normally os x wouldn't boot with them. Check out the DSDT section or the nvid becasue I know I went through a thread where it has the steps how to get it done. Mohamed Khairy
you only need to edit nvidia.c and change nvda, parent to nvda, child and two cards will work using graphicsenabler=yes Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/274537-ati-nvidia-on-lion/#findComment-1785693 Share on other sites
TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
That sounds much easier than the dsdt route I had taken to get two 570s working in tandem might give it a try myself with an amd card and nvidia.
