Nurseman927
So I bought a HP XW8000 sight unseen for 100$. Trouble is, only has onboard IDE. I need a SATA PCI card to move forward. Also, only has AGP and PCI-X slots. My goal is to get SL running and donate my Dual G5 to son. Is this worth even piecing together controllers and cards, or should I make it a Linux box, and get a better buy after the holidays ? Thanks
Nurseman927
Linux it is. If I come across a SATA card I may try it, but I think I will play in Linux, and read some more of the board, and try again with better hardware. I just bought $100 worth of experience :-). I dual have a dual Xeon Linux box running right now, so it is not a total loss
Gringo Vermelho
Trouble is, only has onboard IDE. I need a SATA PCI card to move forward. Not necessarily. If my google-fu serves me your HP has the ICH4 Southbridge. AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext or ATAPortInjector.kext should work with ICH4.
