Chaviv
Okay. Using #####, and installing each update individually, I went from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8. Finally. However, I have one problem. One the original 10.6.3 my 2.0 USB flash drives worked. Now they do not read. No USB device shows up at all other than the mouse. And clues on why or how to fix it? Gringo Vermelho
Maybe kernel/system.kext version mismatch? Can you mount .dmg files? Open a terminal prompt and type uname -a, post the output here. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/271942-usb/#findComment-1769535 Share on other sites
Chaviv
Yes, I can mount .dmg files. And I typed it. It gave me this: Darwin Chavivs-MacBook.local 10.8.0 Darwin Kernel Version 10.8.0: Tue Jun 7 16:33:36 PDT 2011; root:xnu-1504.15.3~1/RELEASE_I386 i386 Chavivs-MacBook:~ chaviv$ And Toshiba's site did not specify the maker of the ports or what driver it had, so I could not look to see if that particular company had any Mac compatible ones. I have miraculously gotten it updated to 10.6.8 and all installed software at highest level of updates for this model. ##### and a lot of patience helped. But this is my only hang-up now. And it irks me as I had a lot of file info like pics on my flash drives to transfer when my install was finished. It worked at 10.6.3 and I could regress it back to there, get it all, and then move it back up, but I like to use my USBs. Chaviv
Would a list of installed kexts help anyone figure out if something unneeded is there that may be impeding progress? I can even reinstall and post all the installer logs. Anything. Always seems I'm one issue away from full function. Gringo Vermelho
Maybe. Run Terminal and type kextstat -k > ~/desktop/kextstat.txt and attach kextstat.kext here. Always seems I'm one issue away from full function. Your on-board video being GMA 4500, that is not likely to change. Chaviv
kextstat -k > ~/desktop/kextstat.txt I typed in the whole line and got nothing so I just typed in kextstat and got this: Index Gringo Vermelho
I typed in the whole line and got nothing lol...it helps if you read what you are typing! You'll find kextstat.txt on your desktop. All of the following are non-apple Kexts, provided by the Hackintosh community. Some are obsolete: 16 0 0x3924c000 0x2000 0x1000 es.osx86.driver.EvOreboot (1.0.3) This is normally not needed with Chameleon 2.1 on intel platforms. If you can reboot without it, then get rid of it. 17 0 0x39275000 0x2000 0x1000 net.osrom.kext.Disabler (1.0.1) This disables OS X's own CPU power mangement. You should not be loading this, your hardware is vanilla power management compatible. Try to get power management working instead of disabling it. Note that alternative power management solutions such as VoodooPower.kext and VoodooBattery.kext may require OS X's native power management to be disabled though. I don't remember if this is the case. 19 0 0x3f460000 0x4000 0x3000 org.mozodojo.IntelCPUMonitor (1.0) 21 1 0x3f4c4000 0x3000 0x2000 org.mozodojo.SuperIOFamily (1.0.0d1) 24 0 0x3f67b000 0x3000 0x2000 org.slice.PC8739x (1) These are fakesmc hardware monitoring plugins. IntelCPUMonitor should be fine but make sure the PC8739x is meant for your hardware, otherwise get rid of it. 20 0 0x3f27d000 0x2000 0x1000 com.superhai.driver.PlatformUUID (1.0.0) This one is obsolete, Chameleon handles this automatically now. 26 0 0x3f6e5000 0x5000 0x4000 com.superhai.driver.VoodooBattery (1.3.2) Battery driver, developer quit the scene a long time ago. I don't know if it's the best option. Look for alternatives? 35 0 0x3f6c5000 0x2000 0x1000 org.voodoo.driver.VoodooTSCSync (1.1) Are you sure you need this? It's required on some laptops. If you can boot without this kext loaded and with both CPU cores firing at correct speeds, then get rid of it. 44 0 0x3f7c5000 0x3000 0x2000 com.yourcompany.driver.AppleACPIPS2Nub (1.0.0d1) 49 2 0x4501e000 0x6000 0x5000 com.apple.driver.ApplePS2Controller (1.1.0) 50 0 0x3f9fb000 0x4000 0x3000 com.apple.driver.ApplePS2Keyboard (1.2.0) 51 0 0x45045000 0x5000 0x4000 com.apple.driver.ApplePS2Trackpad (1.1.0) All of those are PS2 drivers. I don't use PS2 devices on my hackintosh so I don't know what you need to use for what (PS2 mouse/trackpad/keyboard) but I don't think you need all of those. I don't know what's wrong with your USB ports, maybe you need to do some DSDT tweaking. I think it's a waste since you have GMA 4500 and can never have a fully working Hackintosh anyway. Chaviv
Probably since I got this for stats on display from Toshiba. Of course, it does all I want right now except the USB. I do most stuff online and had no issues there. And many of my games work, with some tweaking. Just another obsessive useless project perhaps.
