Gringo Vermelho
I would suggest updating to 10.6.8, make sure everything is working then buying Lion from the App Store and installing it on top like everybody else. Think of Lion as a regular update to Snow Leopard, like 10.6.9. 10.6.8 is a great compatibility test, if it works, updating to Lion should work too. Or think of it like this, if you can't get 10.6.8 to work, you probably won't be able to get Lion to work either.
