iSnob
hi,i have a problem: i assembled a mini itx system formed by i7 2600k asrock z68m-ht itx gtx 570 2x wd caviar blue raid 0 I managed to install lion setting the hard drive in ahci and everything works without problems, but,i lost the chance of raid 0 (because I can select in the bios only raid or ahci),and so windows whic is installed in the raid not work. I was wondering if there was a way to start lion without hard drives are set in ahci. or install lion directly on raid 0 volume. or is possible by an external hard disk? sorry for my bad english! Gringo Vermelho
RAID implies AHCI. Set it back to RAID mode and try booting OS X. iSnob
If i set raid mode (but lion is on non raid drive) not boot, gives me back "still waiting for root device",in ahci mode no problem. Gringo Vermelho
Use AHCIPortInjector.kext. Check Windows device manager for the device ID of the controller when it is in RAID mode. Maybe all you need to do is add it to AHCIPortInjector. Right click, show contents, open info.plist and have a look at how it's put together. Gringo Vermelho
Hehe, what do you think? VENdor 8086 (Intel) DEVice 2822 (ICH8/9R) read this: http://nil-techno.blogspot.com/2011/05/ins...d-linux_24.html As you can see the Device ID changes when it's set to RAID mode, that's why it stops working, add 2822 to AHCIPortInjector or replace 2821 with 2822. Remember to change 106 to 104 as well. Don't mess with AppleAHCIPort.kext like the link says, edit AHCIPortInjector instead. This way your system doesn't stop booting if Apple should update AppleAHCIPort.kext. And, as long as you keep the injector in /Extra/Extensions, there's no need to do all the other stuff on that page either. Chameleon doesn't care about permissions or ownership on anything in the /Extra hierarchy. Gringo Vermelho
Great, well done! I don't know if Chameleon can boot Windows in RAID mode. Until you find out how to get it to work, you could set it up like I have (except I don't have RAID) - Windows boots by default and I never see Chameleon. When I want to boot into OS X I press F8 during POST to bring up the BIOS' boot selector and pick the drive with OS X on it. Chameleon then quietly boots OS X. Make sure you never give OS X write access to your NTFS drives, this would probably f**k up your RAID. Unless I misunderstand how that works. iSnob
when i try to boot windows on camaleon "bootmgr is missing"! Gringo Vermelho
"bootmgr is missing" is a Windows error message, it doesn't come from Chameleon. Keep in mind that you must point Chameleon to the "system reserved" partition when booting Windows 7. Not sure how that works on RAID when each drive has a "system reserved" partition...? If your RAID boots fine on its own without Chameleon then there's nothing wrong with it I guess. Honestly I know almost nothing about RAID and even less about RAID and Chameleon. Hopefully someone who does sees this thread.
