Katie Metzger Posted October 29, 2011 Share Posted October 29, 2011 I am trying to install using Andy's Boot disk and a retail Snow Leopard disk. My hard drive is partitioned into 4 parts, NTFS for Windows, Ext3 for Ubuntu, Linux-swap. and HFS+ Journaled for the OS X. I get to the screen "Install Mac OS X" "Select the disk where you want to install Mac OS X" It gives me the choice between my HFS+ partition and my NTFS partition. Both have a yellow triangle with a white exclamation point in it on them. When I select either one, it says "To install on this disk, open Disk Utility by choosing Utilities > Disk Utility, and repartition this disk using "GUID Partition Table." Important: You will lose all data on this disk by repartitioning it." When I go into disk utility, though, the "Options..." button is grayed out and I can't click it for any partition. I have tried erasing the partition with HFS+ journaled repeatedly and I have tried using repair. Neither have worked. Please help me. EDIT: Also, the hard drive is a 6gb/s SATA drive. It's a western digital caviar black 1tb. My motherboard is an Asus Sabertooth P67. The hard drive is plugged into one of the intel SATA 6gb/s controllers. Gringo Vermelho Posted October 29, 2011 Share Posted October 29, 2011 You can't install retail OS X on an MBR formatted drive without modifying the installer package. Either do what Disk Utility tells you to do (format and install on GUID) or find one of the many guides/tutorials on how to modify the installer.
