Hi all

I have 10.7.1 installed on a Dell Vostro 200 from which I've upgraded the CPU to a 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

The mobo is a Foxconn G33M02 with dual channel memory, I have 2 pair of slots. Originally I had 2x 1 GB RAM modules, one of each installed on each pair

[1 GB]

[empty]

[1 GB]

[empty]

I just bought 2x 2 GB modules of the same type and speed and reorganised like this:

[2 GB]

[2 GB]

[1 GB]

[1 GB]

So totalising 6 GB of RAM.

The BIOS displays 6GB of RAM, the system profiler displays 6GB of RAM:

Memory 6 GB 666 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

But when I launch the activity monitor, the pie chart is saying 3.50 GB (Free 1.82 GB, Used 1.68 GB).

I've added arch=x86_64 to my boot.plist and the system profiler says 64-bit Kernel and Extensions: Yes.

I tried to add maxmem=6144 but no luck.

Why is this happening? Is it a bug with the activity monitor or the system is really only using 3.50 GB out of the 6?

Here is the output for 'top':

MemRegions: 11313 total, 489M resident, 44M private, 266M shared. PhysMem: 686M wired, 870M active, 177M inactive, 1733M used, 1850M free.

Thanks for any help.
