Rasstar
I have Lion up and running smooth on the GA EP45-UD3P mother board but I am having some trouble with the video card. I have my monitor connected via dvi and the other connection is DVI to HDMI. Problem is I cannot boot with the dvi to hdmi connection. It boots to a white screen. I have tried graphicsenabler=yes, nvinjector64, all sorts of efi strings and none of them work. I very new to this so don't have much knowledge. Is there any solution or must I disconnect the dvi to hdmi cable to boot? I am able to boot without the driver and it actually shows a picture on the HDTV. LatinMcG
i had same issue.. try in the boot line -v GraphicsMode="1024x768x32" or similar.. in chameleon press arrow down and shows video res supported. however some hdmi tvs dont like higher than certain hertz and size. but yees disconnect so it doesnt confuse itself with dual displays detection. then plug in once in osx and detect monitors. make sure tv out is the dvi further away from mobo. (2)for tv not (1) for lcd Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/268544-nvidia-9800-gtx-dual-monitor-out-dvi-to-hdmi/#findComment-1750724 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
I believe the way to do this is to inject an appropriate "display-cfg" value that forces the nvidia drivers to see a HDMI display on that port. I have not tried this myself though. Chameleon 2.0/2.1 can do this via /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist, if you're using GraphicsEnabler=y, refer to boothelp.txt for more info. NVEnabler.kext can do this too but you have to add the "display-cfg" property yourself to its info.plist. Or, if you're using DSDT injection for your video card, you can add inject the display-cfg property there as well. Go find the NVEnabler release thread on the ProjectOSX forums, somewhere in that thread is the correct display-cfg value for HDMI output and more info. Please report back and let me know if it works. I've seen posts saying OS X don't like DVI to HDMI adapters, I am curious to know if it works or not. Rasstar
I have chameleon 2.1. I see there is a key option for display 0 and display 1 but I can't find info on how to configure it. What should the string say? A bit lost here. I did lots of searching and it seems like it isn't possible to use dvi to hdmi. Gringo Vermelho
Read my post again, I already told you where to look for that information. Yes, it should be possible to use DVI-HDMI with the right display-cfg value. Rasstar
I searched through the nvenabler thread and didn't find anything useful. So far everything I read said this card wouldn't work with dvi to hdmi due to some kind of hdcp issue. I also looked at the chameleon help and did not see anything. Gringo Vermelho
The very first post has several display-cfg values listed. Somewhere inside the thread it's discussed further...I promise it's there, keep looking. Krazubu
display-cfg plays no role in connector type. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/268544-nvidia-9800-gtx-dual-monitor-out-dvi-to-hdmi/#findComment-1753395 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
Thanks, that's one more piece of the puzzle.. Do you think trying the 8600/8800GT display-cfgs is a waste of time then? What do you think causes the problems some people are having when using DVI-HDMI adapters? Rasstar
Is there a way to disable that port so I can boot with the dvi to hdmi cable attached? I don't plan to use it in Lion but need it when in wndows for xbmc. If I can leave it attached that would be great...currently I need to disconnect it before I can boot.
