ditchweed
hey have just attempted my first hackintosh build having managed to get snow leopard installed and updated i'm now having a few teething problems, the main one being with my graphics card and how to enable it to produce a full resolution image, at the moment it will only show a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 instead of the 1920 x 1080 it should be, this is incredibly frustrating, i've tried about a hundred different things to get it working but still no luck. i've installed the tonymacx86 nivida drivers but nothing happened, i've worked through this insanelymac tutorial about graphics drivers http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=214219 i've even tried to use switchResX to force it to change but still no luck, if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated. my setup i7-980 6-core intel processor gigabyte x58A-UD3R MB nivida 1GB GDDR5 GeFore GTX 460 Graphics 16GB corsair Vengence RAM also only showing up as 4GB ram installed but when i look at system profiler under memory it recognises that there is 4 sets of 4GB ram installed??? Gringo Vermelho
What output are you using? If possible you should use the DVI output that's closest to the motherboard, when looking at the back of your PC case. It's common for OS X to 'see' this as the primary output on nvidia cards. If you're using the dedicated mini-HDMI output then try using the DVI to HDMI adapter that came with your video card with the 1st DVI output instead. ... Visit nvidia's driver download page and download the June 26 Quadro 4000 drivers for OS X. Be careful, if you're not running 10.6.8 you will need to download an older version of these drivers. They are all available there as well. Check the minimum system version requirement before you download. You must be using a MacPro3,1, 4,1 or 5,1 model identifier in order to install the Quadro 4000 drivers. If not, it's easy to modify the installer to run on any model identifier. Let me know. These drivers work great with my GTX 460 and GraphicsEnabler, no modifications needed. AFAIK the TonyMac nvidia drivers don't contain any 'special sauce' or anything, they just removed the model identifier check from the installer, which is easy to do.
