Install OSX 10.6 with USB Drive(s) [& w/out optical drives]

So I had an old hackintosh with Leopard on it (ages ago) and it has died. I recently bought a new computer, and didn't think to buy a DVD drive (I mean who uses it these days...) and then I realized the only time I'll need it, I don't have one :(

Instead of ordering a DVD drive which I'll probably only use sparingly, I have 2 USB drives (2 GB and a 8 GB) that I hope can help me install OSX 10.6.

1. Specs of PC

• Intel Core i7-2600K

• 16GB g.skill DDR3 (10666) RAM (took out 3 DIMMs and left only 4 GB in for installation)

• NVIDIA GeForce GTX580

• 1TB HDD

• ASRock P67-Extreme4 Motherboard

2. Other Equipment

• MacBook Pro (w/ OSX 10.7)

3. What I tried to far

• I restored the Mac OSX 10.6 retail DVD image (10A432) to the 8GB USB drive and made sure it was partitioned using MBR

• I installed chameleon and #####-Legacy (due to Sandy Bridge) on the 2GB drive (following the guide here: http://howtohackintosh.wordpress.com/guide...llation-guide/).

• I inserted both USB drives into the PC (made sure my HDD was on ACHI mode) and chameleon/##### successfully loaded up.

• I selected the OSX Install drive, and it would seem to work, then bombard me with "ebios read error 0x04" errors, and that's where I'm getting stuck.

• I tried -v, -x and -x32 with no luck.

• I also tried installing the bootloader and OSX 10.6 on the same 8GB drive. It gets me to chameleon and when I try selecting the install drive, it gives me the same "EBIOS read error".

• If I try -v -x, bunch of lines fly by (Seems to work), but eventually will get stuck at "EBIOS read error".

So I'm left with two options:

• Hopefully someone can figure out the problem and get this to work w/out an optical drive.

• I'll have to buy an optical drive. (I'd prefer not to.)

What do you guys think? Any help would be great! Thanks for reading this far.

Try this, boot #####, select the OSX install USB, then as soon as you see ebios read error, pull out the OSX Install USB and plug it back in.
