USB Wifi issue

So I followed this great guide to install OSX on my Dell L502X: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...7950&st=160

Everything is working as expected -- so today I picked up a usb wifi adapter and thought it would be a simple install. I chose the Airlink awll5088 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003X26PMO It is based on the Realtek RTL8188CUS. I saw several posts saying that this usb adapter worked under OSX86, so I thought I would have no issues. I was wrong.

First thing I did was install from the airlink site, this looks to have installed a kext and a GUI. After restarting, the wifi adapter does not show up in network preferences but does show up in system profiler. Launching the GUI called Wireless Network Utility makes it show up in the dock for a second before disappearing.

At this point I did some research. Here are the things I tried:

-Uninstalled airlink and installed from realtek site -- no difference

-Tried pulling the kext out of the installer and installing with kext helper -- no difference

-Tried launching with the -arch=i386 flag because I read that the realtek GUI needs to run in 32-bit -- no difference

So here I am, I would love to get some help on this. Please let me know if you have any ideas, tips or suggestions.

Thanks
