  1. I got sleep working with a new version of sleepenabler. I've attached the kext I used. The only remaining thing I hope someone can get working is QE/CI on the intel card. I have tried the new Chimera bootloader which supposedly supports the Intel 3000 HD card natively with no luck. I think Chimera passes in 'GraphicsEnabler=Yes' which then uses the nvidia card. However, the 425m is listed as a supported card, so I'm not sure why that would cause the crash. When I boot with the 1.5.4 Chimera I see a message about dependencies not being found for geforce.kext and then some green lines cover the top third of the screen. It finally hangs a few lines later when it hits the IntelCPUPowerManagement load. SleepEnabler.kext.zip
  2. This unfortunately did not work for me. While it didn't KP on boot, it still does not recognize any audio output devices in system preferences/sound. I do have a way of enabling sound that uses a few kexts from the L702x thread over on tonymax86. The downside of that method is that I need to run a script upon booting in order to enable sound -- so definitely less than ideal. EDIT: I am a liar. The reason the kext wasn't working was because it had a dependency on IOAudioFamily.kext -- which I had removed from S/L/E to load it via the script I mention above. I popped IOAudioFamily back into SLE and the audio became enabled. I am going to do some testing and see if I get any popping or anything. Thanks for finding this!
  3. [GUIDE] Dell L701X (xps 17 late 2010)

I have a L502X which has the same ALC665 audio chipset. I am running Lion and have no sound at all. I just read this entire thread and I am a little unsure on how you guys got audio working. Tips?
  4. Is anyone using a usb wifi adapter? If so, which? I am having a hell of a trouble getting this one to work: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003X26PMO despite the fact that others have been successful and it has an OSX installer on their website.
  5. USB Wifi issue

So I followed this great guide to install OSX on my Dell L502X: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...7950&st=160 Everything is working as expected -- so today I picked up a usb wifi adapter and thought it would be a simple install. I chose the Airlink awll5088 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003X26PMO It is based on the Realtek RTL8188CUS. I saw several posts saying that this usb adapter worked under OSX86, so I thought I would have no issues. I was wrong. First thing I did was install from the airlink site, this looks to have installed a kext and a GUI. After restarting, the wifi adapter does not show up in network preferences but does show up in system profiler. Launching the GUI called Wireless Network Utility makes it show up in the dock for a second before disappearing. At this point I did some research. Here are the things I tried: -Uninstalled airlink and installed from realtek site -- no difference -Tried pulling the kext out of the installer and installing with kext helper -- no difference -Tried launching with the -arch=i386 flag because I read that the realtek GUI needs to run in 32-bit -- no difference So here I am, I would love to get some help on this. Please let me know if you have any ideas, tips or suggestions. Thanks
  6. Low Performance help!

I did a fresh install of OS X 10.4.8 with the Jas DVD on my system and am getting much more sluggish performance than I would expect. I have all features of the graphics card available (besides the fact that it thinks it is a PCI card) but am getting unbelievably bad QE scores. I used the Natit installer and am running fine through DVI at 1680x1050 res. I hope I can get some good suggestions on what things I should be trying to do to fix this. Thanks in advance. 7. Low XBench score help!

That is my thinking as well. Under system profiler it does notice the X1600 as a PCI card when it truly is AGP. It does do the native resolution of the LCD at 1650x1050@60hz and says that Quartz 2D Extreme/ QE/ and rotation are all supported. I just expect a smoother graphical performance I guess. Any suggestions?
  8. Low XBench score help!

My setup is: Intel P4 2.6 Ghz 2GB RAM ATI X1600 AGP video card My system profiler says I have everything supported yet I get very low Quartz scores on xbench. 9. [HowTo] X1600/X1800 Full Support (Borisbadenov Method)

I have the same card and couldnt get the system to remain stable for any sustained period of time with Neos installer. Boris' method made my xbench scores go up, but no QE or Q2d which is odd. DVI worked with both cards though.
  10. [HowTo] X1600/X1800 Full Support (Borisbadenov Method)

Anybody have any tips on getting QE and other hardware accelerations enabled if the Boris method does not work, and Neo's current installer makes the system unstable? The card is a GeCube X1600Pro AGP 256MB card (dual DVI). DVI has worked fine since I plugged the card in, but I cant seem to get the hardware accel with Boris. I was reading about the AGPGart fix, is that something I should be looking into? Thanks! Edit: I have an intel P4 SSE2 processor with an intel mobo
  11. [HowTo] X1600/X1800 Full Support (Borisbadenov Method)

I thought it was interesting to note that the Boris method gives me an xbench score near 70 while Neos installer gives me an xbench score around 52. Also Boris' method does not enable any hardware acceleration which really makes it confusing that it is faster.
  12. Constant freezing under OS X

I have been looking over it, and I dont think it would be worth fiddling to get the hardware accel and risk having the system blow up again. I did read about a patch made to allow the system to realize that it is an AGP card since it is showing PCI in the system profiler. Also, since I am fairly new to macs, what is the best way to back up all this so that I can revert as easily as possible.
  13. Constant freezing under OS X

To my surprise, my keyboard was running low on battery, so when I tried to scroll through the plist file, it was acting as if that was all there was. I replaced the batteries, and fixed applied the Boris patch. I am running back at native res, and we will see if OS X can stay up. One odd thing to note, with QuartzSimple, it informs me that Quartz2D is no longer supported, while System Profiler tells me that QE is not supported as well. With the Neo patch I had both... Maybe there is a forum post about this that I need to find.
  14. Constant freezing under OS X

I used the 10.4.6 HotIso to install. It passed the check that OS X runs at the beginning. These random issues are very strange, I really followed the instructions well on everything I have done so far... I see a full reinstall being needed soon if we dont figure this out, but what is to guarantee this wont be the same after that?
