Chrono951
Ok, I'll make this quick because its late and I just spend an hour searching the forums. I just finished installing Mac 10.4.6 on my Gateway laptop. Everything went fine, I installed from the DVD with the patch packs. Everything is setup and Mac starts up fine, but when I loads into the desktop (Havent seen it yet) all that appears on the screen is a really messed up screen. Its like black and grey and blue lines going across the screen. I can see the cursor fine for a sec (then it dies too), but everything else is messed up. It looks like a dialog box appears because a square appears in the mess, but I can't see anything. I tried changing the resolution and -f from the boot screen with no luck. Any suggestions? troisd
boot with -v (verbose mode) and give us the last error message. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26679-video-issues/#findComment-181219 Share on other sites
mikem2
I had the same issue, I did a reinstall, and made sure that the select the GMA 900 in the install menu selection. The same place you can select SSE2, SSE3, AMD, and 10.4.6 patches. I hope that helps, because it resolved it for me. Now I have full graphics support If you want to currently work, press F8 before it starts and I think enter -x for safe mode. At that point you should be able to atleast see the OS in a normal fashion. But it will not be as quick as the full normal bootup. -enjoy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26679-video-issues/#findComment-181259 Share on other sites
abbub
It sounds like a refresh rate issue? Have you tried feeding a graphics mode at boot up? e.g. "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32@60" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26679-video-issues/#findComment-181318 Share on other sites
Chrono951
ok, I tried the -v and nothing came up, it just booted with nothing different. I also tried the -x and that actually took me to the desktop perfectly. I rebooted and tried normally and same screwed up screen. I then rebooted and tried like 20 different resoulutions with the same results. When I installed off the DVD there was only one choice for ALL the patches, AMD, Intel, and the 900 so I just chose that. Any ideas?
