jbrennan
Did anyone notice that if you open the Quartz Composer, and select the Basic Composition template....... one of examples given for using this template is Animated Desktops? jbrennan
no... didn't have time to play with it. I'm guessing (if true), it would be part of the "Desktop & Screensavers" control panel. Whereas the current Quartz Composer can publish to the Screensavers part.... the Leopard version can also publish to the Desktop part.... and we could have 'live desktops' dont know... just guessing here. Didn't see anyone else mention it so far, so it could be anything (or nothing) at this point. jbrennan
What you're talking about can already be achieved with an app called "BackLight" Yes that's true. All i'm pointing out is that they're probably gonna be a standard feature of the OS now. Rammjet
Run your screensaver as your Desktop wallpaper - go to Terminal and type (or copy/paste this): /System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaverEngine -background Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26623-animated-desktops/#findComment-191474 Share on other sites
Silhouette
Sorry to bump a dead thread, but it works. Just save a quartz composition and add it with the little + sign in the Desktop preferences section. Not the smoothest thing ever but still cool. Colonel
Maybe this has something to do with a new feature that will be in the final version of Leopard. A CoreAnimation desktop environment, perhaps? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26623-animated-desktops/#findComment-194190 Share on other sites
