SirLinux
Regarding the correct DVD. I bought the $29 SL 10.6.3 at a local BB. This is an upgrade DVD and doesn't appear to be bootable. Did I buy the wrong one? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/266194-problem-where-is-the-boot-dvd-to-download/#findComment-1739078 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
You cannot boot an OS X install DVD on a PC. You must use a suitable boot CD to boot the DVD. wagrub
And this I supposed that happens using EFI or another boot device right? Sorry about the unknowledge but I've searched a lot about tutorials for newer users and I've have been frustated about this because I couldn't find any real good tutorial for example teaching how a new user can do to make your own distro as in my case, I have 2 computers but they have different components so if I would able to do my own distro using the right kexts for my computers that will help a lot not only me but anyone on this forum. "Please advanced users share your experience and knowledge for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I know this is pretty ashame to ask for LOLOLOL but I did. Thanx for all Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/266194-problem-where-is-the-boot-dvd-to-download/#findComment-1739382 Share on other sites
SirLinux
You cannot boot an OS X install DVD on a PC. You must use a suitable boot CD to boot the DVD. Yes. Using MyHack and the SL DVD I purchased I was able to install on a HP 2710P. Even detects the webcam and bluetooth. I didn't modify any of the install and I need to do it again or figure out what extensions to add to fix some issues such as - No Keyboard - have to use USB attached keyboard and mouse. Only a single USB port works out of 2. Display only at 1024x768. It can do 1280x720 in Windows. No wireless. Pretty happy that at least I can get the MacOS operating to at least this level so just a little more work to figure out the above issues. Just need to figure out the extensions and how to get them installed. wagrub
Yes, I agree with you, I drove myself to crazy when I installed the zephyroth 10.5.1 on my laptop. I had some problems like you but I solved some problems like: Keyboard isn't recognized when the mac os boot after installation, so I downloaded a .pkg and installed and after I reboot and the keyboard of my laptop worked fine. note (I've installed a .pkg of ABNT and ABNT2 because I'm a Brazilian). If you want to try to use this package and see if it works properly I uploaded here to share with all PPL of the forum. But I still have the problem of my video card and my audio card, I've tried a lot of different kexts but no one worked for me. I'm still trying to fix this problems if I won't be able to do it I will ask for help, you bet LOLOLOLOLOLOL. This .pkg is very closer to an American style keyboard except for the "symbols" like ~^´` I'm so sorry guys but I'm editing because I did a mistake here I uploaded the wrong file here. You can find the right controller bellow in another reply. Thanx for the comprehension. SirLinux
Thank you. I'll try that. Maybe you can answer this. When I did the install and created the Mac partition I perhaps did not choose the correct options. After it installed the software and I did a reboot there isn't a valid boot loader. I have to boot with the USB loader that I used to do the install. The loader on that allows me to select between booting the flash drive or the MacOS on the laptop drive. I created a GUID partition type on the laptop drive when I did the formatting. Should I have selected a different partition type? I created a GUID partition type on the laptop drive when I did the formatting. Should I have selected a different partition type? Regards Are you running only the Mac Os? or are you running Windows too? 1- If you are running with the Windows it's so easy to fix this problem, you have to download EasyBCD and install on windows. Into the program you have to add a new entry, choose Mac OS (MBR) this option using the MBR will install a boot using Darwin Loader, I think it's more stable than Chamelleon and you don't have to copy your folders to add a new boot entry again. But if you prefer you can choose the another option using the EasyBCD and this option will install the chamelleon boot loader. 2- You have to load the darwin or another boot from your usb so press f8 when you have to choose the partition where is installed your Mac OS you have to type: -x after this you will have to type: fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX (X=install disk number) and if you are working with partitions on your HD you have to type: fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0s1 for example where 0 is the primary boot HD but the partition isn't starts with a 0 the partition start with 1 and etc.... Another Example: if you have your boot on HD 0 fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 but the partition is the second, now you will have fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0s2 If this works to you let me know, because I used the Zephyroth Distro. And please if anybody on the forum knows what is the "key" to solve this problem let's help each other. Knowledge isn't a crime! And I'm so sorry but I did a Mistake don't install that Abnt2, that is only to mapping the keyboard.(I'm a Dumb LOLOL). These are the right ones to install and be able to use your keyboard. Sorry again.
