ellnic
I'm experiencing a KP every now and again whilst using my Inspiron 1720 which seems to be related to Safari.. I was wondering if someone could give me some pointers as to what is going on here... it doesn't appear to be when I do anything is particular ie. Youtube, a Blog etc... so what's up? Kernel Panics in Lion are pretty "normal" and do not have necessary to do with being a hackintosh.. read Apples forums, they are full with mac Owners having those issues, too. Myself had yesterday around ten or so KPs while on Snow not a single one in months. Lion is not yet ready for everyday usage, simple. But 10.7.1 is adressing some Safari crashes, maybe it helps ? But then again you will have other KPs .. I promise you. Just use Snow if Stability is more important. ellnic
Thanks for the reply. I am using 10.7.1 at the moment (upgraded yesterday) and firefox (my normal browser) and so far so good. I am not overly worried about the kp's as long as I know that it's not something I have done wrong or that I have neglected to tweak my DSDT somewhere. One thing I did notice with 10.7.1 is that VoodooPowerMini claims it cannot get full CPU control anymore... (seen when booting in verbose mode)... Are you by any chance experiencing the same issue? EllNic. i have a fully fixed dsdt and therfore do not use Nullcpu in OSX . My Core2Duo works completely on Apples stock kernel and settings. But I am back in Snow, yesterday I gave 10.7.1 a chance both in i386 and in x64 modes, but it is just so annoying to have a crash or a boot gone wrong every now and then. In snow nothing like that. Snow works as if the machine was made for it .. so .. next try will be 10.7.2 when it is finalized, by that time iCloud will be also finnished, so Apple needs to sort all major issues out by then. The thing is : nobody can tell you when you experience a error in Lion if it is because of Lion or because of Hackintosh .. it could be both the case. Kernelpanics are a phenomen in Lion for all users, regardless of hardware; just google "lion osx 10.7.1 kernel panics" and see what it gives.. ellnic
I don't use NullCPU either...... my DSDT allows me to boot without it, it's just on 10.7.0 I didn't get the VoodooPowerMini error.. with 10.7.1 I do. Oh well Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/265800-kp-caused-by-safari/#findComment-1736889 Share on other sites
