kemot77
Hi, my specs: 1. Gigabyte Ma770t-Ud3p 2. AMD X4 620 3. SB770 4. ATI HD4850 1GB RAM 5. Realtek ALC888 6. SAGEM XG-760n Wi-Fi dongle 7. HDD: Samsung (SATA, Windows 7 installed) AHCI, WD (SATA) AHCI 8. mouse, keyb. - USB Hi, I've got a problem installing 10.6.3 Retail on my PC. The disk that I want to istall SL to is not seen in Disk Utility during installation(WD 80GB SATA, working with no problems on WIndows) img although it's seen in System Profile img SL installation recognises other disk(i've got no problem installing system on it) so it isn't matter of drivers. I've tried many methods, DISKPART, Gparted, i've done even a Low Level Format, but it doesn't work. Is there any possibility to force this disk to work with installer? Is there any Terminal command thaht allow to check why it's not working? Sorry for my bad English. Thanks for any advice Cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/265552-no-hard-drive/ Share on other sites

kemot77
I've tried many times, but it didn't help. I think it's the matter of proper formating the drive that Disk Utility can recognise it. Gringo Vermelho
When there is no driver loaded for the hardware (disk controller) that the hard drive is connected to, it doesn't appear in Disk Utility. Format/File System is irrelevant, just like Windows' Disk Management Console, Apple Disk Utility will see all available drives regardless of format. It wouldn't be much of a Disk Utility if drives had to be formatted by a third party utility before they could be manipulated. The problem is that your install media/method has no driver for the controller that your drive is attached to, and/or the drive controller is not configured correctly in the BIOS. If your motherboard has more than one hard disk controller (i.e. there are different colored SATA ports on your motherboard) try connecting your HDD to another one. You can also try connecting the HDD via USB or Firewire. If the problem turns out to be a missing driver and you're using a Chameleon-based boot CD or USB flash drive to boot an OS X Retail DVD, find out which driver you need to add to it in order for your hardware to work. In your case, Google/forum search "SB770" for more information.
