Hi to all,

I'm installing 10.4.7 (JaS) on a notebook with following hardware.

Intel T2300 dual core

GeForce Go 7600

SATA 160 GB, ICH7M chipset

Let me tell you my story...

First I made a partition on my hard disk, using Acronis Disk Director.

I made a 10 GB primary partition, formatted it FAT32, and set it to ACTIVE, then put the DVD in and rebooted.

Booting from the DVD went very smooth, looked really promising.

Without any problem I made it to the install program, and opened disk utilities there.

My SATA drive was shown on the left, everything looked fine.

But... when I selected my OSX partition and clicked "erase", the following error showed up:

"Disk needs an activating point".

Allthough I had set it to active, the disk profile said it wasn't...

Clicking the 'activate' button always resulted in an "activation failed" error.

So I went through all the system profile windows, everything was nicely detected (even built-in webcam and bluetooth!) except for the Wi-Fi.

My harddisk showed no errors, except about the activation point... I also tried the disk-first aid and repairing functions, but they all said that the disk didn't need to be repaired.

I tried rebooting from a bootable CD (Ultimate bootable CD) to set the active partition from there, but that did not help.

I'd like to kindly ask if anyone here knows what I could do about this... I'm a bit of a Newbie here, hope it is not a silly question.

Kind Regards,

George

My hard disk is partitioned like this:

1 primary recovery partition (hidden)

2 primary Win XP partition NTFS(60 GB)

3 logical storage partition NTFS(70 GB)

4 primary OSX-intended partition FAT32 (10GB)

All I could make from my search was that the primary partition maybe should not be after a logical partition.

Could this be the problem here?

I seem to be unable to move the partition between the primary and logical ones...

Is there someone who knows what to do in a situation like this?

Thank you very much,

George
