Searay_X
Well, I am almost two weeks into the project and have found what I believe to be the near perfect setup so far. 1. Abit IC7-G motherboard. Everything works with HotISo 10.4.6 – with SSE3 Fire wire USB SATA – In BIOS raid mode too! Pentium 3.0 HT Sound via onboard Network is great via onboard 2. ATI Radeon X300SE 128 MB @ 1280x1024 on Zenith 17” LCD 3. NEC 16x DVD +/- R RW 4. Xerox Workcenter Laser Printer 5. Epson R-1800 Firewire Printer 6. Segate and WD 200 GB internal SATA drives 6. Seagate 300GB Usb 2.0 external drive for storage and transfer (fat32 formatted) Apps I have tested Most apps included with OSX Adobe CS2 – ALL Adobe / Macromedia Studio 8 – ALL Toast Dragon Burn MS Office 2k4 Darwine Xcode MacPar Deluxe Stuffit Expander So far guys, no problems besides the one earlier about the network card (physical problem and not the Mac). The only thing maybe somebody could answer is why does the processor report to be a P4 4.0 GHz? Anyways, I just thought I would share my success in hopes that it will help someone configure their Mac– By the way, this is a dedicated machine and not a dual boot. <EDIT> I also just realized that this post, with the exception of the processor question, would have probably been better suited for the hardware forums. Sorry about that. I was just anxious to share the good news. </EDIT> Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/26514-near-perfect-setup/ Share on other sites
carnid
You mention nearly perfect - I also have the x300SE video card but get terrible mouse tearing - are you not having this problem? I have tried the hacks to get around this but still has caused me to decide to go back to xp or purchase one of the more compatible x1600 cards.
