Hi Guys,

just finished installing Lion and migrating data from snow leopard on a Dell Precision T1500 (Intel Corei7@2.83Ghz, 16GB Ram, Nvidia Quadro FX 580)

I followed Maldon's procedure, except that in order to successfully boot the installer (and the os once installed) I had to use x64_EmpireEfi (otherwise with chameleon it would endlessly reboot) found here:

http://x64bitdimension.jimdo.com/uilit%C3%...ownload/bootcd/

Once booted into Lion, I installed chameleon rc5 (as per Maldon's guide) but then substituted /boot with the one from netkas:

http://mirror.netkas.org/Lion/boot

With this boot file I can boot without issues

What works:

- Nvidia Quadro FX-580 Full CE/QI dual monitors

- Sound with VoodooHDA (any version that supports 64bit SL should do)

- DVD Writer with JMicron*ATA

- Ethernet with non embedded Realtek RTL8169 with additional IONEtworkingFamily in /E/E

What doesn't work:

- Embedded NIC (broadcom of some sort)

What could be improved:

- At the moment the Quadro isn't fully recognized (Shows up as unknown Nvidia in System Info) but since it works ....

- No DSDT, haven't tried sleep/hibernate, it probably wouldn't work anyway

- Have to manually shut down

Cheers

I managed to adapt a driver written by adlan ( http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=247470 )

for the embedded broadcom nic:

pci id: 14e4:1692

description: 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe (rev 01)

BCM5722D.kext.zip

Cheers

I have a DELL Precision T1500 as well (Core i7 @2.93, 8 GB). I followed the ##### install method and got Lion running.

However, I am unable to enable QE/CI on the graphic card NVIDIA Quadro FX 580 (0x0659 / 0x00A1). The card is recognised by "Graphic Enabler" and I get the correct screen resolution, but not accelerated. How did you solve this?

Hi mathieu, sorry for the late answer ....

This is the info I get from lspci:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G96 [Quadro FX 580] (rev a1)

01:00.0 0300: 10de:0659 (rev a1)

.. and the info from System Information->Graphics Display:

Unknown:

Chipset Model: Unknown
Type: GPU
Bus: PCIe
Slot: Slot-1
PCIe Lane Width: x16
VRAM (Total): 512 MB
Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)
Device ID: 0x0659
Revision ID: 0x00a1
ROM Revision: 62.94.7F.00.0A

In my com.apple.boot.plist I have set GraphicsEnabler to yes and that's about it .... as far as I know (translucent menu bar, DVD app working, flash working) QE/CI is enabled.

What makes you think QE/CI isn't working for you ?

Regards
